How To Build an ENGLISH TUDOR Like a Nerd - In-Depth Sims 4 Building Tutorial

Come build an English style Tudor or timber-framed home with me! The English style Tudor is found in England, with similar styles in other European nations as well. Construction began as early as the 1400s and you can still find Tudor inspired homes being built today. Hallmarks of this architectural style include a steeply iptched cross-gable roof, timber framed walls, oriel windows, and herb and cottage gardens. This will place perfectly in Windenberg and other English or European worlds that have timber framed history. Hey guys! I'm super excited to build this one with you, but I realized I forgot to mention something in the video when I was picking wall colors so I figured I might as well drop a comment. I went for really warm tones in this one because that's my personal preference, but if you really want to be historically accurate, you'll actually want to go with the black and white swatches. The timber would be coated with black tar and the plaster/wattle and daub walls would be painted white to protect them from the elements. Today though we have other methods of protection, and it's much more reasonable to have the natural wood tone or the stained wood shine through, and you can paint in any color.

Awesome video as always. Windenburg is one of my favorite worlds just for the fact there's so many lots and there's quite a lot to do in it. The builds though... are a bit of a nightmare. In my opinion, they're probably some of the worst next to Glimmerbrook. The Dresden House, Coorinburg House, and Waterlock Redoubt have the most potential of the all the tudor builds there, but it takes so much renovation to get them playable and nice looking. I'll definitely be taking notes on this video for when I retackle this world.

I agree, they're so empty and odd. I always wonder how the developers that created such good building tools made such disappointing builds. The gym in particular I hate 🤣

@@sahm_and_bean Oh yeah, god the gym haha The pool lot is just as bad imo. It doesn't necessarily look awful but the indoor outdoor design makes it function poorly. It can only really be used in the summer too because of how cold Windenburg always is. I think if I were to redo the modern builds I'd go with a cross between an industrial and modern eco friendly design. The eco expansion seems like it would pair really well with Get Together, I just need to get it.

@@sahm_and_bean Yeah, absolutely! I've never actually posted to the gallery, but if everything goes well I think it would fun to do. Although some of the buildings I have in mind would be designed for a story I'm slowly crafting. That's part of what's made me hesitant to post since some of the buildings wouldn't be just general renovations and I don't want to annoy people.

This was VERY helpful! I wanted a fairly accurate Tudor home in Windenburg, but needed a specific number of bedrooms that I couldn't find a good match for in the gallery. This video definitely helped me build much more than just reference photos!

I followed this and made it in my game. :) I used packs and I made it for 3 siblings. The eldest runs a flower shop in the shop area. There's a teen and a child too. Idek if i'm gonna actually make them or play them but I liked creating a story for them while I was building lol Thank you!

Hey, I had an idea that I wanted to share with you. How about "Build like a nerd" Tiny home, or Micro home. I don't know which term is most used. And I know it is a more modern trend, but there might be a history if you look for it. After all, humans have been forced to make due with what space they can get for a long time. And it should be a cool place to showcase different tricks to use move objects cheat with. It won't be a for beginners build, but it should be entertaining anyways.

I definitely want to do this. The more or less recent trend of moving into tiny homes is absolutely fascinating, and I would love to cover it and maybe make a little micro home village. Plus there are so many great tips I want to share for actually planning and putting together micro tiny and small homes (according to the Sims metrics).

I can't answer your Sims 2 question, but I can tell you that the next video will be a base game Tudor. Of course you can always add more packs if you want, but the American Tudor style is super base game friendly 😁

new to the sims and I have a question, Im trying to follow this tutorial but already having problems at 4:17. The stairs shown in the video are smaller than the ones appearing in game, how can I change them?

Your stairs should automatically snap to the height of whatever you are putting them against. Try moving them one tile closer to your foundation?
