I had no idea that kicking a ball and keeping it away from a dog was so difficult as was demonstrated by the gentleman kicking the ball and trying to keep it away from the dog. Gee wiz! Cheers mates!

Really interesting how much faster this can be taught with working/high prey drive dogs. I’ve had to work over 3 weeks to get my dog ball/toy driven, and even then it’s not I infallible as her main motivater, foooood.

I love this channel, Robert Cabral, and Leerburg for dog training. If I remember correctly I believe Leerburg created the marker system we see used today, I could be wrong though. Still an amazing channel nonetheless.

I've had a lot of duck dogs and german shepherds, and one thing i've noticed in shepherds with a naturally extreme ball drive is that they are not cat friendly lol

What do you do if they are grabbing for the sting to tug more then the ball? My pup has tuns of ball drive but when it comes to getting her to work for it and she finally goes for a good grab she gets the string.

Drop the ball when they jump to bite it. They will always bite lower after a few repetitions.

How do I build the desire for the toy in a dog that has little toy motivation? She will play with it if you're holding it, but when I try to wave it around to get the misses or put it on the floor she just walks away or tries to come to me instead

@@WaggingTailsDogTraining if she’s a working bred dog then there’s something wrong in how she was brought up... If not then it shouldn’t be expected to be high. You could develop it but it would depend on your skills as a handler if what you do is good for your specific dog. Maybe try build the drive with a different toy because at the end of the day it’s a toy the dog wants and if you want it to be something other than a ball then so be it

Just wondering how old that pup is. I am thinking that using a harness would be safer for his neck than a collar. Plus you could use the oppositional reflex that the harness would trigger to potentially push that drive even higher.

Thats find with a dog really interested in a ball but not much use when a dog shows no interest in the ball. No interest in picking it up or holding it.
