(Kinda) Funny story, I was playing Batman during a murder mystery game, and like half of the players assumed I was playing Adam West Batman for no reason. It was funny because I was doing a deep voice - not ridiculously so - and being intimidating to npcs. Not the worst thing to happen, just a weird, harmless laugh.

If you took a 3rd level in Rogue, your 16th level Ranger Feat would be at character level 19, and you could have gotten a Epic Boon instead... Truesight out to 60 feet would be more Batman than Blindsight out to 30 😉

I know it's not everyone's favorite, but Robert Pattinson's younger, less trained Batman really did it for me. The movie has some plot holes, but I feel like most movies do, what was more important to me was seeing a Batman that struggled and creating a bleak city for them to preside in.

I like Batman as a Gloomstalker Ranger with his 3 attunement slots being used on Gauntlets of Ogre Power, Helm of Intellect, and an Amulet of Health. This way he can have 19 strength, con and int as well as maxing Dex and putting scores into wisdom as well while dumping charisma but maybe trying to get him the Menacing feat? He can get more feats this way too like skulker, skill expert, skilled to help boost his abilties.

More Rogue lvls for me. Reliable Talent and Evasion at 7th lvl really does it for me, considering Batman regularly has to contend with explosions and skills checks at every turn and 4d6 Sneak Attack just tickles my pickle. For Roguish Archetype, it would be between Thief and Arcane Trickster, mostly the latter for more spells/slots, like Fog Cloud or Find Familiar (which could be a drone of some sort). My two favourite Batmen have to be from both the Arkham series and the 2022 Matt Reeves film and I see the Mage Hand as a stand in for a Cryptographic Sequencer of sorts when combined with Thieves' Tools. Also, I'd focus less on the thrown weapons and more on his close combat, taking Shortsword and Dagger for Two Weapon Fighting.

@@lucasramey6427 except that unarmed strikes are actually a real thing, and in alot of ways monk is part of Batman's heritage, especially in the comics and some of the novels.

@@dominicreid3874 yeah I think the Patterson Batman is actually really solid and I really like the overall feel of the movie. I did a unique take on Superman a while back, I will probably redo him eventually for 2024 rules

Multiclassing in 2024 requires some additional considerations… The glaring issue with this build is you need to make sure to get an ability score improvement at character level 19 or 20 for an epic boon feat. With this build, you’re already delaying extra attack, so it’s weaker in tier 1/2 play. Then missing an epic boon so it’s weaker in tier 4. Love the channel and some of the builds. But this one is a miss from me

Yeah tried sticking more to them than optimization for this one, but I totally understand. That epic boon is a big incentive to not multi-class

@@dndbuilds you can certainly still multiclass… just have to make sure you have an ASI option. It’s character level 19 to qualify for epic boons, not class level. If this were my build, probably 5 levels of ranger, then 3 rogue, then back to ranger. That way at ranger 16, character level 19, I can pick an epic boon feat

Ah, what a poetic way to kick off the 2024 builds. Very interesting that Ranger (gets too much hate) worked much better than I thought it would 🤔 I would have maybe taken a 1 level dip in Fighter or Monk for more martial prowess, but other than that very solid. Looking forward to the new era! ~_~

It really speaks to how versatile Batman has been written as a character and how OP he is cause there are solid points for all the builds depending on what you want to focus on. My personal Batman build (With 2024 rules) is an Inquisitive Rogue/ Eldritch Knight Fighter. Mainly so I could get Stealth, detective work, and gadget combat

3:02 Is change the stat lineup personally. Charisma is 10, +1 mod for Strength, and probably an 8 or 7 into wisdom. Batman knows all the downsides to not getting enough sleep and of child endangerment, yet he still lives off of 2 hours at best and Jason Todd is still a character. Doesn’t seem pretty wise to me.

Man, i think you're sleeping on the soul knife rogue, psychic blades are essentially endless batarangs, the dice are great for skill checks, and the whispers is team communication. I'm playing a soul knife/ artificer variant human, and am beyond happy with the it, thorn whip from artificer makes the grappling hook along with other gadgets

My first character in 2014 and 2024 versions are both based on Nightwing 😂. I thought Batman was too obvious to and too much of a compromise. Nightwing is straight up monk with investigator background.

Well monk is eating pretty good recently just base him more on kid goku rather than adult goku so you don't have to spread him thin with multiclassing so you can do ki attacks, maybe open hand because while he uses a quarterstaff starting off he later does a lot of hand to hand techniques and then if you were just starting your campaign I'd get with the dm to see if you can learn some techniques from other martial artists during your journey (aka workshop some spell like focus techniques with your dm like picking up aganazzer's scorcher from a wisened hermit who could later become your master, get the blindness half of blindness/deafness, face off against a rival who knows the multiform technique mirror image have fun with ideas)

As much as I love Batman like everyone else. Creating Batman who has most, if not all the skills and utilizing all them gadgets from his arse is challenging enough even with trying to acheive high ability scores. I'd rather create a different version of a Batman, let's say a Batman in forgotten realms. The idea for my own version of Batman came from the movies and comics where the criminals question of Batman is real, or they ask if he can fly. Some of them think he maybe a vampire haha. I find that funny when criminals question that stuff and I was thinking, what if he really was able to fly, or what if he was a vampire, I made myself a Dhampir Monk, Batman. I was thinking Way of the Shadow, or Way of the Long Death. Background would be Scribe, for some more skills. I won't worry about gadgets either. Just his fist and spider climb from dhampir's racial feature.

Great vid. Great build. It made me go back and re-read my comments on the old vid. A couple of points: -- I'd have dropped CON to 12 and put the STR to 10 -- At first I thought that the background should be Noble (obvious)...but I actually really like the choice of Criminal. In the lore, Batman leaves home at 14 and travels the world for several years learning martial arts and other skills, and (in certain depictions) living like a criminal in order to learn how they think. That justifies the background and makes a better build. -- Great use of Ranger. (That's what we talked about on your original vid!) Gloom Stalker is dead on for Batman. -- I think instead of Tough you might have gone with Savage Attacker, Tavern Brawler (mostly because of the improvised weapons), Athlete, Crossbow Expert, Defensive Duelist, Grappler, Keen Mind, or Sharpshooter. Great stuff!
