one other tip that i recommend for stability is using the ice_floor instead of the rock for concealing inside builds; the benefit of that is that unlike rocks it doesn't change the terrain on the ground and it floats by default. That way can have a single stretched out piece for ceilings and floors at higher levels and even bridges can have grass and lillypads etc under them. The ice floor is also a piece that even stretched up and resized retains its shape in vanilla worlds without mods. awesome video with all the details. Jere's mods carry creative building for me XD

Had I known this sooner I would have built entirely differently. I basically did everything wrong. I pay great attention to detail, even filling gaps that are not neccesssary for either cosmetics or the stability, so I have yet to check how many instances I created on my gigantic mistlands build. My lag is extreme. I basically just look at individual pictures when trying to move through my build. However, all that is of no consequence now anyway since I can no longer use the devcommands or debugmode since the newest update. If anyone knows a way around this dilemma I would be greatly thankful. Excellent and very helpful guide Ninebyte, Thankyou !
@9byte Жыл бұрын
No problem glad I could help. The devcommands and debugmode are built into the game so there should be no problems there unless you dont have -console in your launch options anymore or unless you have mode that could be interfering. Mods are all being updated for the new Valheim update so you should go and see if new versions are out if you are using mods.

Fantastic and helpful tips. I always struggle with frame rates and instances and generally do remove almost everything in my area but will definitely remove all before I build going forward. I found the large marble pieces the other day (among a few dozen other items no one seems to use), shame they don't have them in regular stone or wood flooring.

how to get that "black marble floor 4x4"? I really need that mod to get that type of big floor and column.
@shanetaylor5577 Жыл бұрын
Subscribed recently and have been loving your videos! Keep it up! Quick question - I followed your advice on a build recently and used the blackmarble_column_3 and blackmarble_floor_large. For some reason, the floor pieces snap together very well but I can't get the columns to snap. Is there a trick for this or did you experience it too? I'm finding it difficult to build nice straight and level walls but I want to save instances. Thanks!
@9byte Жыл бұрын
They dont snap unfortunately. If you are using Infinity Hammer then select and marble column and nudge them into place rather than bringing in new ones each time.

Love it, but I have a question. How do you use ship_under_construction to lower the ground below the 16m limit? When I place it, it's at whatever ground level I'm standing which is -16m at the lowest. I can't fly below the surface of the ground, so I'm stuck at -16m unless I'm standing next to a steep cliff and place a ship into the cliff.
@9byte Жыл бұрын
You could use a mod to place below where you are standing like Infinity Hammer mod which has a nudge tool but that would be defeating most of the purpose of using this method. Otherwise you would have to come in from the side taking advantage of a lower elevation next to the area that you want to lower... meaning that if you want to use this method it would require you to choose the place you are building with that in mind... which is the way we practiced and the way I was assuming it would be used.

Thanks for the tips about the mods! There is one question I have: The area is, I assume, the area you can actually see. Is that correct?
@9byte Жыл бұрын
Much appreciated. Yes, you could kind of consider it the area you can see. Its really the area that the game is loading in. Which is for the most part the area you can see. The draw distance setting in particular affects how much the game is loading at once and so it can have a drastic affect on performance if you are willing to not see as far. Hope this helps!

Honestly the fact this game has these crippling issues just shows it has a trash engine that is unfixable and its kind of pathetic when you think about it because it has such low quality graphics which would make you think it could handle more but it can't. Meanwhile lego fortnite, and enshrouded don't have these issues. Seems like they should go back to the drawing board, or have some method to turn your build into a single instance or something or render it the same as the rest of the environment.
@12345678951826 ай бұрын
I think the main issue is that Valheim has it's structural integrity checks that it constantly has to go through for everything. I'm sure some things can be optimized, but I imagine it's actually more complex than Fortnite or enshrouded as those games have no build limits (to my knowledge)
@Erebus4046 ай бұрын

Have fun with your self-imposed limitations. All the tools have been provided for free, it's up to you to decide how much you use them. You can either build a gorgeous giant base or just be happy with what vanilla allows you. Mods exist for a reason, there's no purpose to try to gatekeep how people play their game.

Don't know if you've noticed, but this is not about playing the game. There's nothing to "cheat" here. You want to play vanilla and build that way? That's awesome - you go ahead and do that and more power to you. Those of us who enjoy building more than most other things in the game have different goals and wish to push the boundaries of what it allows. NEITHER IS MORE CORRECT. So just let people play the way they want to without stupid, shady comments. It's not the flex you think it is.
@o0TraceuR0o Жыл бұрын
@@renlish lemme ask you, when you boot up the game without fidgeting around with downloaded files from nexus and typing in launch commands on steam to allow console usage, what can you make? when you can make such builds with only those things i'll respect the hell out of it, other than that popping devcoms flying around placing everything down without any requirements is just cheating plain and simple. If you wanna make builds like that download an architectural cad software or something, this is a game and you should adhere to game rules.
@AICaliceinchains Жыл бұрын
@@o0TraceuR0o You’re opinion was valid until you started casting judgement on how other people appreciate the game. This reminds me of an ‘ironman’ gamemode in runescape where you have to do everything yourself with restrictions in totality to prevent you from cheesing. No help from others is allowed by any means. But the gamemode is a self imposed restriction, you do it for your own sake for your own enjoyment. That’s exactly what solo survival mode is. That’s why groups exists, that’s why dev commands exists, etc. There are multiple (if not infinite) ways to play, so maybe think about that before you go on about what the right/impressive way to play is.
