Hope you used stainless steel staples or the regular ones will rust and come apart and so will the carpeting. Don't ask me how I know! That moving carpet should have been more comfortable under your knees not your toes. So far this is turning out really nice! BTW I thought you said you were going to raise the front to make a platform.

great build! Just be careful when using pressure treated wood on bare aluminum. once it gets wet those chemicals will start to corrode the metal

Why not put a little glue on the back of your hatches for when u fold carpet? ...then staple too. Staples usually hold up but sometimes they dont

Yeah I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to put glue on the edges and back... the metal plates on the back of each hatch do cover the edge of the carpet though so it provides some additional support. Seen @ 22:00

You may have already figured it out but you had automatic grayscale on that’s why the picture was getting lighter and darker nice filming though planning on taking a similar challenge

After it is carpeted how do you attach the wood deck to the aluminum frame?

This boat in particular used stainless steel screws so that's what I used in the rebuild. It worked pretty well, but you want to be sure you have carpet between the treated wood and the aluminum because I believe the wood will corrode the aluminum over time.

You should have sealed the wood before you carpeted it, fiberglass resin works good or epoxy two part paint...yes I know its treated but why not make it bullet proof and never worry about it

Yeah this is probably something I will do on my next build. One of my favorite things about doing these projects is you always learn something. Thanks for the advice!

He will probably be redoing all that work inside of 3 years because he didn't seal the wood. Other than that, it looks like he did some nice work.

Question..will this boat become unstable, 90% chance it will.
@Everydayfishing
@Everydayfishing 3 жыл бұрын
Well its a 17 foot boat so it certainly won't be as sensitive to weight distribution as say a jon boat... but you of course have to plan out where the fuel and batteries will go to avoid listing to one side or the other. Have you been in a 17ft polar kraft before?

it will actually probably be more stable. more weight means your weight effects it less. so it'll shift around slower than say an empty jon boat
