How to build God's Palace (my Contest Entry) | Dragon Quest Builders 2

In this tutorial I show you what details were important for this build, especially because it is "only" for a photo. This is my contest entry for the demo of Dragon Quest Builders 2. I tried to create a smaller version of God's Palace in Dragonball. I hope you have fun watching!

What's cool about this about this build as a contest entry is that you make good use of nice looking, scarce resources to make something that looks whole and complete. I noticed lots of other entries that made very large, complex structures, but with "junk" materials, so I consider them creatively lazy. They clearly didn't go to the trouble to collect and move hundreds of pieces one by one. Then of course there are the even cheaper pixel art designs which I think just get attention out of sentimentality from long time Dragon Quest fans. In terms of artistic merit, this temple stands above most others, sadly overlooked by the cheap and easy public.

Congratulations on your 3rd daily placing and your 70th placing out of 10,000 entries,this is very clever and you really are very creative,very much an artist and yes no pixel art should ever beatAny 3D build,i dont think anyone will ever understand that,that is so wrong,but love your work as usual and love watching your live feeds and your reactions,dont ever change your format,its great

Yeah pixel art is kinda boring compared to actual buildings. It’s novelty, what can you do about it?

A very cool building !! At first I thought you found out a way to make new blocks in the demo when looking at the thumbnail but after watching your video I understood you used existing bricks. You have my respect sir !^^ I also played demo btw, loved it but sadly didn't see your building otherwise it'd have my vote for sure.

I love your attitude about everything, it's hysterical! Watching this vid as soon as I saw the pixel art in the #1 slot I just knew you were going to comment on it hahaha. Aside from the whole "wide open space to build something 3-dimensional..." there's the added insult that you can create 2d pixel art with an app on your phone. Why would bring it into this game ????

Pixel art can be good if used ALONGSIDE functional structures, which was my original plan in dqb1. I was planning on making "portraits", but decided to just wait for this game.

I guess when you think about it, the pixel art people make and get voted for are more of an 'appreciation' sort of thing. I guess with a lot of the pixel arts in the game, the subject is what draws people in such as No.8 on the first pic shown, which shows pixel art from Rem from the Re:Zero series, not gonna lie I've never watched it and never will but the fact that I know this character means that she's had a big impact online in the East but also the West so you could say that such votes are an appreciation to that factor. But of course, looking at those arts are as you say, could've been done on MS Paint and I feel people should be expanding on it to a whole new level which is like with the massive Elle island pixel art which shows that appreciation even more than just some tiny ass one cause that's just lazy. I feel that what Square Enix should've done is at least split those two components as pixel art fits in to another area of artistry different to architecture. I love how the enemies have casually spawned on your floating island during your build X'D It was until this video I realised the water was actually ice! Nice illusion you made, I actually thought it was real water solely by the picture! But at least you're still at 70 :'D Hopefully the next contest will be a bit more 'fair' :') And have fun with the full DQB2!

Yeah I guess it is kind of a sentimental thing. But as you said, they should split pixel art and 3D art :)

do u win anything in these contests other than top spot ( if u win money etc I would agree with you) ? but if not , don't see too much of an issues. I personally love pixel art and sometimes people vote just simply because they like a photo lol. I would have voted for that person simply cuz i liked the photo lol... and I would vote for yours too. Unless square enix says no pixle art i don't see the problem. It is a game after all and people did vote for them ( not like they are vote bottling.) It might not be your taste but voting is just popularity, they had more votes. I like your build though.,

How did you get vault blocks without hacking in ultimallet?

You can destroy and collect most of them with your starter hammer

@@BenXC But in the current version on switch, I can't mine a single one of those blocks especially near the place where you make the first blueprint, I wish to be able to mine the chert blocks this early... Then be able to put different blocks underneath the first blueprint before getting the first hammer, but they seem to have locked out most of the things on the island until you complete the story...
