Great Video! I really dislike the Big Box pre-manufactured lattice. It breaks apart so easily. Great idea for a video and with easy to understand for non- carpenters and home handymen!

Yes, some of that stuff is flimsy and I couldn't agree more. What an awesome video... well time will tell... but still AWESOME!!!!

What did you buy/use for the lattice strips? Did you rip them from larger dimension lumber (2"x2"), or buy the strips ready to use? Was your lumber treated? If ripped, perhaps staining would give adequate protection? Also, this looks rather time intensive. I need to make the equivalent of four 4'x8' sheets. Is it worth the time required? I can get 4'x8'x3/4" treated lattice locally, but not spaced as I want, i.e. 2 1/2" spacing available ( kind of weak--I am extending a spindle deck rail height to contain a 110 lb. dog) rather than 1 3/4" spacing. Thanks for any help.

Extremely weak,I reinforced by using a screw and bold on the corners and each of the rows ..when it's just staples there isn't anything keeping it together..if that makes sense.

@@gregvancom Is it pressure treated, did you buy it already 3/8" thick or did you rip thicker boards. Most pressure treated wood sold is 3/4" thick.

I notice that in the store bought lattice the staples are folded over at the back like when you staple paper, which makes the joint stronger, are you going get that with your stapler?, do they pull apart?

Folded or cinched staples are going to be better and yes, it can fall apart, but I've never seen it. I also angle my staples when building lattice to add a little more support.
