Cool beans. And good on you for the shout out to BMC. I will be using some of this in my next build of a cliff side. Need to find thick xps though. One thing I will do different is sand on one side, grass on the other, don't know how that'll look, but that's the plan! Thanks.

I just found your channel, as a recommended on KZbin. I just thought you would like to know the reason why I subscribed to you is how genuinely relatable person you are. I appreciate you being real. Keep doing what you're doing! I hope you and yours are well. P. S. I'm m a fan of Jeremy too, as well as DMCraft, Wylock.

I'm a brand new newbie to this hobby and I actually found BMC first, and it was one of his videos that lead me here. He did one about the five first projects you should to, and terrain stackers was one of them, and here I am :) and honestly something I've noticed in his videos too - you all are constantly shouting each other out and saying like "hey I got this idea from this guy" "I was inspired to do this by this other guy's project" and as someone who's done a lot of different creative hobbies, it's really refreshing and absolutely beautiful to see. People can die mad about it if they want to, but the fact that this community is so supportive of each other is one of the things I love.

I do really love that about the online crafting community! It’s genuinely really supportive and has a general kind of feel like “a rising tide raises all ships.” Kind of thing. Jeremy was/is (obviously) a HUGE influence on me to start crafting in the first place. It makes me really happy that his videos lead you to me! I hope the stackers turn out well! Take some pictures and tag us in them when they’re done! I’d love to see them!

You just got yourself a sub my friend. Been following BMC for a while and your channel popped up in my feed. I've been playing old school paper pencil AD&D 2e since the 90's and just now started playing with 3D landscapes. Love your videos, how relatable you are, and how you pay homage to those who inspire you. Keep up the great work!

Hey what are the recommended dimensions for the stackers? Guesstimating from the gridlines yours look like they are about 4.5 inches by 14 inches or so.

2” but you could also get one in and just glue two pieces together before you craft.

question.. hope you are still around to answer. why cutting the top if you are gluing sand on it (or using the foil ball for that matter) i'm wondering if i can skip this step (my hand-wrist is not loving this cutting) thanks
@ChonkyTatzelwurm
@ChonkyTatzelwurm Жыл бұрын
There are two reasons I would consider it- 1, the factory finish of insulation foam can sometimes fight against PVA glue, since PVAs tend to have a small amount of shrink while drying they can, though they don't always, peel away a little from a factory finish surface. I personally like using the Black Magic Craft black modpodge to glue sand like that down because it tends to be a little tackier to the factory finish on the foam, doesn't shrink as much as standard PVA, and leaves black showing if grit does come off. The other reason is that while you want the top flat in practice, having some small variations that will still show through the sand will give you visual interest that you will still notice once its all been painted, particularly if a given stacker is the top layer in a setup. If you want to do that without cutting into the top, grab a rock with an interesting texture and use it as a first pass for the foil texture step to get some deeper indents. Hopefully that's a good explanation as to why you would, and a couple of things you could do differently if you wanted to avoid doing so.
