Hi, I've used concrete slabs as a wall to a small pond but now I'm thinking I should have a small concrete wall to support it, shall I use gravel & sand with the cement? I've also got a thick metal mesh? Thanks for any advice you may give.

Hey man, your videos are incredible! I noticed you leave the back part of the wall forms there for strength, but that would mean that the stakes are embedded into the footer once it dries. How do you take the back forms off? Cut the stakes? Thanks man!

How do you deal with the holes from the kickers in the footing? Also what do you do about the nails you tie the upright rebar to when you pull the forms?

We just leave the nails. They stick out very little, as far as stakes if we pull them out when we finish we just fill in with concrete..

I’ve been watching a bunch of your videos! I’m wanting to make a 4ft concrete retaining wall and yours are the most informative, so thank you! Question, how long do you wait before removing your forms? Is it possible to do a wall slowly and mix a bag at a time over a week or so? Would that make the wall less strong?
@AllAccessConstruction
@AllAccessConstruction 2 жыл бұрын
It's kinda of a timing to it. Recommend you have someone do it that understands the process. You also can use a product that's ardex that you can come back couple days later and smooth the wall that way you don't have to worry about stripping it the same day.. Any other questions let me know... What area are you in?

I've done a footing for a small residential bridge over a period of time - I was just a laborer for my father-in-law and didn't dare offer my opinion. However, does doing a project a batch at a time. Impact the strength of the concrete and should I have overlapping rebar to improve the strength? Any other advice on this kind of a project would be helpful - I'm actually an electrician but end up doing a lot more and have built houses from the footers to the shingles long ago.

Do you leave those duplex nails in after the rebar has been installed and wire-tied? If they are left in, when the boards are removed from the back of the form the nails would protrude out through the concrete. I assume they are removed before the pour but could not tell from the video.

Hey thanks for the video. I have a question. I'm about to do a double (2 rows) retaining wall, about 2-3 feet tall each in my back yard. All sloped, so I want do one wall, give it about 4 feet space (for flowers or veggies, etc.) then another wall. I wanted to know.. what do I need to buy for concrete?! Is there a specific brand you can suggest for retaining walls, there will be traffic on it, I have kids and family walking all over everything. I guess I'm wondering what would be the best concrete I can use and from the supper limited amount of information I gave you can you suggest few tips and gotchas!!! ps I'm a new homeowner (pre pandemic) but I love building and doing everything (well....most things) myself. Any tips/suggestions, things to look out for would be awesome!!! thank you
@AllAccessConstruction
@AllAccessConstruction 3 жыл бұрын
All our concrete we use is a six sac pea gravel mix (3000psi). Also if you have to walls going up the rule of thumb is what ever the height of the first wall the second wall must be double back. Example the first wall is 3 feet high than the second wall must be 6 feet back. There is expectations but talk to an engineer . Good Luck

Im really enjoying the videos. I have 3 questions. I was wondering, at 2:27. The nail into board and rebar tied to it. When removing board, did you hit board with sledge hammer then hit nail sideways to break off ? The end nail stricken put of the concrete that is? 2nd question is drainage. Is there a reason for that? I mean is there a drain behind the wall? The reason I ask is. How would anything damage that wall? Even if the dirt feel down to it, it wouldnt flip the wall over would it? Because of weight and that little lip that goes towards the sidewalk. Rocks under the concrete help keep the water drain? 3rd question I think it was your son who was handed the drill looking tool with a tube. What does that do? To make sure the cement is all compact no air pockets?
@AllAccessConstruction
@AllAccessConstruction 2 жыл бұрын
Good day 1st question | when we strip we just use a hammer. That nail sticks out a little bit in back. We just leave it. Sometimes we hit it sideways. 2nd question | We always put drainage. Most walls fail due to drainage. 3rd question | that was the vibrator helps to make sure there's no honeycombs in the concrete.. Appreciate you watching the videos... 💯💯👍🏿👍🏿

@@AllAccessConstruction at 4:35 when you removed the forms to use broom finish. How come sometimes forms are left in place for a couple of days for the concrete to cure but here, you were able to do it? Is it because of the height of wall and type of concrete your using?
