@jeanforthewin I'd go for a head + cab then you can change bits and bobs if need be... but a combo would be cheaper. I've had good experience with the markbass stuff so maybe look out for a second hand combo on basschat... or a little mark head + a cab.

@jeff5311 Well observed! Yeah I do but i didn't used to. It kinda came about because I wanted to play faster and that seemed to work... although for the first month it felt really strange. If you check out Matt Garrison he does a similar type of thing. If i was you i'd experiment and see what works for you.

This lesson is not fun and sucks to practice, but it defiantly works and increased my speed after only a few days. I can know play the intro scale in the song yyz by rush correctly. Thanx Scott. Your the man!

@devinebass Cool! I'll check out Matt Garrison. Digging a bit deeper, It seems some of my favorite players use a hybrid of this plucking technique (sometimes straight finger, sometimes first knuckle type of pull). Jaco, for instance, seems to use both. Why am I just now figuring this out?!?!? Thanks again!

Have you got any tips to improve my stamina? I have got really big hands and fingers and when i'm playing 16th-notes for a while my arm starts hurting, especially when there's string-crossing involved.

Scott: Just got the Music Man Big Al bass with the 3 SSS single coil pickup configuration. Have you had a chance to try one? Opinion?

Hey Scott, I noticed you alternating your fingers when you cross strings. I would like to know what you have to say about when you use the same finger to pluck the notes when crossing string (I don't know the correct term in english, sorry =\ )

Do you have a video on that special technique you and jeff5311 talk about? Ps. Cheers for the absolutely great videos.

Great video Scott! Thanks again. I noticed on your right hand that you seem to pluck upwards from the first knuckle. I know it's a minute detail, but most bass players, including myself, tend to pluck downwards with the whole finger, almost into the pickup. You seem to get a great resonating tone with each note you play. When I try and pluck like you, it's very difficult. Is it worth re-vamping my technique?

Hey Scott, long time subscriber here, love all the videos. I'm currently playing bass in a band that does blues/funk/jazz/ska/rock type stuff and I'm looking to buy a new amp for both practice with a full band but also for smallish gigs (around a similar size to relish in doncaster). Do you have any recommendations bearing in mind I'm a uni student with limited cash? Should I be looking for a combo or separate head and cab. Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers Scott, keep up the good work!
