Yooo this is my local park! That pyramid you were talking about at 0:30 is better used as a roll in to hit the euro gap/ramp next to the stair set. It's one of my favorite things to skate because you can get so much air time on your tricks, and the roll in gives you the perfect speed. The manny pad and flatbar area is also awesome, you can just send lines non-stop and when its a warm day, the trees keep that area shady. Please visit again! 😄

Love the explanation of the parks before you skate them it’s so interesting to watch you just talk and point at things lol and skating is killer as usual lol!
@penapedro78948 ай бұрын
manuals take way more effort and time than most other types of tricks but they are also way more satisfying imo. it's more slow dopamine and that attracts some people more. you are so good at manuals and it's not always about getting it fast but staying motivated and concentrated for couple of hours to land one trick. feels so good when you finally get it
@seancarterx8 ай бұрын
This is so true. On the days where you’re simply not in a headspace to be pushing yourself by jumping on rails or down stairs, a good manny pad can make the entire session.

Great vid as always, John. I think it’d be a really great addition if you would add some basic measurements in from some of the features. I watch these because I love skating and enjoy your vibe, but also because I’m interested in the design aspect. I’m sure many of us are. You mentioned the flat bar is possibly an inch or two high for your exact liking, but unfortunately there’s no reference point for us to go off. Same with the euro gap. I’m dying to know these dimensions haha. Just height and length mostly. I fully get that it can be a game of inches when you’re trying to design things to be perfect and suitable for fun daily skating. Just a thought! I know I’d be super stoked on it! I’m currently helping design a park in Tahoe. You spoke my biggest fear in this video… that the builders may screw everything up and it seems like it’s on you!

I like how critical you are of the parks, because I do the same thing. Most things are pretty off from being a good spot. Also the WIND... its almost always too windy when I go somewhere or just crazy hot or something to ruin the session.. (scooter kids also)

Skate parks should be designed with intermediate and beginner level skaters in mind. If there are obstacles at a skatepark that only Tony Hawk or Nyjah Huston can skate then it was a waste of money to build and most skaters will never use them. Keep it simple.
@seancarterx8 ай бұрын
Not to mention that no one is too advanced to enjoy a great ledge or manny pad. Walker Ryan comes to my local in the summer and spends 90% of his time on the manny pad despite countless other obstacles being there too.

Hey John, I have a video idea. I just watched “Elf” for the first time and there’s a scene where Michael gets a skateboard from Santa. Santas book says he wants a “real huf skateboard with high 145 Thunder Trucks, 52mm spitfire classic wheels and bolts”. Thought it was funny that they actually said real parts and pieces. You should ride it and see if the kid had good taste. Happy Holidays John!

Are there just an unlimited amount of skateparks in California? It's insane! When I was skating we had zero parks in my city. We had a DIY "park" inside of a giant warehouse that caught on fire so we just legally accessed it and put ramps and stuff in it. We also had a roller rink that had some shitty ramps and rails that brought them out for skaters once a week.
