Excellent and thanks for sharing. From my experience it takes few iterations and patience before you can produce a quality bat that you've assembled, including edge tape.

hey, one tip I can give for you glueing you blade spread the glue pretty well on the edges because, is in that spot the rubber start to unstick and can cause bubbles on your equipment, mading you performance bad than if it had correctly glued

Hi Ben, nice, helpful video. Do you have a guide or rules about deciding how to choose rubber? I noticed that Sam Priestley went from the Palio CJ8000 directly to a Tenergy and I was wondering why you chose that step. Thanks,

I've never changed rubbers before, so I'm completely new to this. Is it worth using edge tape? And what was that blue paper you used at the end? Also, how do I know when the glue is ready for another layer? Thanks :)

And I'm not sure which glue to use. I've bought the blade (DHS Hurricane Long V) and rubbers (Tenergy 80, DHS Hurricane 3 Neo) and I don't really know which glue I should use for either side. Any experts willing to give some tips would be greatly appreciated :)
@gabri3l8757 жыл бұрын
I'm Not a expert, or something like that, but i recommend Butterfly Free Chack (The same as he used in the video). Edge Tape or Side Tape is a personal thing, if you like it, you should use it, and if you don't, just don't use it. I Know that my rubber is ready to another layer after the glue layer looks "invisible" or after waiting a few minutes. you need to look at it and see.

Here's my assembly equipment - office glue and scissors, fine (small pores) dishwashing sponge, kitchen pin. A word of caution, though! Watch out for those types of glue that can actually dissolve your rubber. Read ingredients carefully and know your chemistry well before going the budget route.

a good esier alternative thats less expensive and takes less time is elmers rubber cement it works just as well and alot of clubs use it
@keenansouthall18619 жыл бұрын
However, it is illegal in a tournament. But if you just want to mess around and aren't going to play in tournaments, it's not bad.
@tehnoobestworld9 жыл бұрын
Keenan Southall its not actually. its not illegal in any tournament 40 people of the 73 at the austin open tournament last weekend used it all our rackets were cleared by the officials, ittf certified btw, there is a process you can do o the rubber that involves saocking glue into it to provide spin and grip and that is illegal
@DanJakeElefant9 жыл бұрын
+tehnoobestworld how do you put it together? do you follow the same procedure of letting the rubber cement dry first?
@keenansouthall18619 жыл бұрын
Yes but it is illegal. ITTF banned rubber cement and speed glue because they cause health problems. Small tournaments where the don't test the rackets can still get passed by officials because they didn't test them. However, if you go to a larger tournament they will test your racket.

Atleast in my experience, played with stiga and butterfly for years now, mostly Stiga Calibra LT Sound on my forhand and Butterfly Tenergy 80 on my backhand. Why the hell does everyone seem to recommend Palio bats? I swear most of these people probably get paid to promote those bats. The Palio Expert is a good bat but for the price I would rather go with a Butterfly TBC series. The quality is better than Palio and they all come with a nice case. You can get a Butterfly TBC 401, 402 or 403 for around $24. The rubber on these Butterfly bats are also much better than the Palio bats.

*To anyone who is trying to make a custom blade FROM CUSTOM WOOD VERNIERS, BEWARE:* I recently talked to a professional ITTF player/coach and he strongly advised against using custom, hand-built paddles in competitions and against high-level players or against serious players. It looks bad and skilled players won't play against you. Its also a big turn-off and he recommends people purchasing ITTF approved paddles. If you want to make modifications however (rubbers and sponges, rubber grips), you are well welcomed to.

We want rubbers simply re-spayed cheaply when it loses grips to the ball. Right now It is way too expensive and way too unfriendly to the environment. If the industry doesn't consider protecting our environment and natural resources, sport fans should stop using their equipment.
