Arm for the steering wheel that goes through the bulkhead/firewall is just called the steering shaft. Great informatiobal video! Have you seen people using the b4/b5 rack and wheel carriers for this swap?

Hi really enjoying this video . Loads of great info. I was looking at fitting a 20vt from a mk1 tt into a vw corrado . What’s the difference between Synchro and 4 motion.

In short - the syncro system is older, it can't handle as much power and it can only send up to about 30% (if i remember correct) of the power to the rear. The 4Motion system can send up to 50% of the power to the rear, its possible to controll when and how much power is going to the rear and it can hold a great amount of power. And parts for 4motion is much easier to come by:)

Really good video, lots of useful information. I’m in the strip down phase of a Mk1 and a 1.8t. My intention was just a fwd build but now I’m thinking of pivoting slightly to incorporate an awd Haldex system after watching this 🤔. Did you have to weld in temporary brace bars when cutting out the drive tunnel in order to keep the body from warping? Keep up the great content!

Thank you! I didnt weld in brace bars. I had the car on the ground sitting on all four wheels when I cut the tunnel and also when I welded a tunnel back in. I didn't cut out more than necessary so the chassie would hold its shape:)

Is it absolutely necessary for the wheel housing to be changed I've been dead set on this plan for a couple of months and have gotten down to collecting some parts for this set up now that I hear the wheel housing change this may change my mind

Yes. I have used from S3 8L which is the same as the TT mk1

Great video and info. I didn’t follow any of the usual methods. I used a gen2 haldex from an audi tt mk2. I couldn’t use the subframe bcoz it was way too big for the mk3 vr6 golf. So I built a jig and used that to fabricate my version of the gen2 rear subframe to fit my MK3 vr6 golf. It was a lot of work. I had to custom make all the end links and suspension components. And im using a pushrod suspension setup at the back. I have not tested it yet as im still busy with the front work. Thanks once again for the video,,,great confidence booster 😊

@@gaming4l835 hi there,,,i will be using the emu black ecu,,,it has a pwm functionality to control the gen 2 haldex. I will also be using an external pwm dc controller solenoid to turn it on and off,,,

If its too big for mk3 then it sure wont work for mk1. Which was my idea 😂 I was planning on just cutting out the entire mk2 tt floor and put my mk1 onto it lol what's your thoughts on this?
