@@ArianeZurcher212 I'll let you know how it works out. I think they were called "Colonial" needles and they were on amazon. I have Prime so that's why I ordered there to avoid the dastardly shipping costs. I didn't know whether to get the sharp or the blunt so I chose blunt. I hope that was right.

This is such a wonderful stitch. I learned this from Susan Taylor Brown and your name came up in her livestream last week when a newbie was asking for artists to watch for inspiration. I love the work you do and have subscribed. I am not doing a lot of stitching atm but I have and I will. I do have a couple of pieces on the go. tfs. 😀

I have to tell you this. I love the organic animal octopus look of this. So, I watched, paused, made a beauty. I said, I've got this and made one without the video. There is a thread on the fabric plus the tendril. Where did that come from? Watch the video, make a beauty, try my own and there's that freakin thread again. Repeat over and over!! My point is, where and how you begin is THE most important part unless you want to see that extra freaking thread!! 🤣💟

The Edmar threads also work fantastic for tendrils. They are commonly used in Brazilian embroidery and come on several weights, including a super fine one for skinny tendrils. Appreciate your videos!!

Thanks Ariane, it’s interesting that until I started making the tendrils I wasn’t really conscious that I was wrapping my bullion knots the left handed way! The right handed way doesn’t feel natural. Or was when the Razzle started to untwist the strands they I wonder it the opposite direction. It is such a pretty stitch I shall definitely do more of them.

They are challenging, but the end result is pretty dramatic! ❤️💖❤️

So when you wrap counterclockwise I am finding it unwinds the spinning of the thread with the eleganza razzle.
@ArianeZurcher212 Жыл бұрын
Hi Nancy, yes, depending on which end of the thread you've knotted, it can do that. Try knotting the opposite end next time and see if that helps or wrap clockwise instead.

I wonder if you can tell me, for a 100 wrap tendril, how long is the thread you use? Thank you
@ArianeZurcher2124 жыл бұрын
Paige McKelvey it depends upon the thread. I would say 20 - 30” would be safe though, but I’d probably experiment and make notes.
