The Bunny Hop is an essential mountain biking skill...so why would it be any difference for E mountain bikes? That being said, there are a few fundamental differences to help with a successful E bike bunny hop, mostly just to deal with the extra low-slung weight that E-bikes are carrying.
After we've learnt how to bunny hop, we can look in to places to use it and how it's going to help your overall riding experience. Well executed bunny hops can improve your flow on the trail, take you safely over obstacles and contribute towards the development of jumping skills. Get practicing!

HAVING a go new to emtb got a good bike but in my mid 50s will be trying and trying again. iam 110kg and on giant reign 0+ i Had some difficulty getting rear wheel up. been round degla a few times but taking it easy. A full dislocated left elbow left my arm a little weaker last year. Id had long covid and found ebike was a great way to get out. I started off with a frey ex which was way to heavy. confidence is growing. Video explains a lot. Thank you.

Neil, great vid, very much appreciated. I am back into MTB's after a long layoff (riding dirt bikes) and it's great to see your tutorials, very clear explanations and demonstrations. I am riding a single speed rigid at the moment and I have been relying too much on SPD's for my bunny hops etc. I have an eMTB arriving in a month and I will be riding that with flats, so I really need to go back to basics with bike control skills. Love your channel, keep up the great work. Thumbs up from Down Under.

Great vid Neil and like all pros you make it look easy. I used to be scared coming in nose first thinking the front wheel would slip out or I would go otb. I got brave and started dropping in, bunny hop style, at the skatepark bowl. I took that to tabletops and then stairs. Its now one of my favourite things to do as the landing is smooth and the back stays up. I need more practice at the jump parks but watching others definately helps. Technique first then speed and timing.

I just bought an e mtb (hardtail) a few days ago and I’ve only ever tried green trails as I didn’t have a lot of time for mtb but now that I do have more time I really wanna learn some tricks and progress to blues and blacks

I think most people are going to struggle to jump with their butt buzzing the back tire the way Neil is doing it. He makes it look easy but I couldn’t learn it this way.

I’m relying on my SPD’s too much in jumps. I managed to unclip my right foot buy pulling too hard. It nearly went very south. Ultimately I’m failing on the manual part which is, well, fundamental. More practice needed!

Picking up the rear wheel with flats can be quite hard to do, or rather to explain. It may be a lot to ask, but can you find someone who can't do it and then teach them how to do it? I always struggle when I want to teach that part, since I can't really explain it.

Neil, I can’t get to lift the front wheel like you do. No matter how much effort I put in it, it feels like I’m trying to lift a dinosaure. Any further tips?

I've recently started using flat pedals for the first time. I bunny hop really well with clips even on my new Ebike but getting the rear end up is troubling. My feet leave the pedals too often so I'm clearing the obstacle but my motor, pedals or rear tire are hitting. Would more spring in my rear suspension be a solution. Do a video on doing trials moves on an enduro or large travel bike with flats.

Nice video, but really struggling, the back is so heavy, and it seems like I almost have to go over the bars to get any lift. Very scary and frustrating.

What's with nose landing??? Is it because of bike weight or that's just the way you do it?
@midlifebiker7424
@midlifebiker7424 6 жыл бұрын
Ive started doing nose landings to help keep the back wheel up longer to clear the obstacle. I started by dropping in (bunny hop style) on a skatepark bowl that is steep and you can catch the front chainring if you try to roll in. Its very smooth as long as your body position is right...back rather than forward. Small table tops is a good place to start. Dont use any brakes when landing..you push the front down into the landing. It took me a while for it to feel right but now its one of my favourite things to do and try and go bigger..

Hi Would you recommend increasing the handle bar slightly higher than a standard bike to give more leverage due to the extra weight . I normally set it front and back 50/50 to keep grip on front tyre but makes it harder to manual on e bike due to the weight mostly due to the battery up front .
