After making sure my understanding of the definition of the word "political," was correct, I was able to confirm my initial suspicion that darn near everything can involve politics in one way, or another. Good luck trying to avoid politics, people!

A rule that has served me well: If I know the hardware well enough to take it apart and repair it, "used" is okay. Otherwise, buy a new one, and learn to repair on that. Another one is that if I have to compromise my principles for my audience, they aren't my audience, they're somebody else's.

If you purchase a used wireless microphone you could be in trouble. Often someone is selling it after their spouse or parent has died and they don't know the gear at all. They're just trying to clear it out and get a little bit of money. But older wireless microphones might be on illegal frequencies with that part of the spectrum now being used by other types of devices.
