How to delete the Ac compressor on a 3rd gen 5.7 with only a belt (part no. 5060630)
Edit: The belt routing seems to work well ( 2+ years later the truck is still running that belt) but there are more part numbers in the comments that are said to work better. The 62 1/2" 7 rib looks close to ideal, 63" seems to be a little big on some vehicles. But anywhere in that area with a 7 rib preferably will get you back on the road.
Not that anyone has asked but in case anyone was wondering I run a small auto shop in southern ontario and I run into problems like this from time to time. This could be a one hit wonder as far as youtube videos goes, but if I come across unique solutions I'll post the videos.

Worked for my 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7 Hemi. Thank you for posting this helpful video with part# ( Duralast 630K6) and diagram. $20 and 5 minutes under the hood, back on the road. This setup has same tension as original belt and configuration...

I just did this on my '06 Durango. The only thing I did different was I went over the idler pulley between the alternator and the fan. I measured both ways and it was almost the exact same. I went that way as it looked like the belt would rub on some of the tensioner components. Thanks for the awsome video!!!

Hey guys, I am reading the comments seeing that the 62 in belt is working better. I am a poor college student with 2004 dodge ram 1500 5.7L looking for the cheapest and best way around the compressor. Couple of questions-- Was it 62 in exactly? or 62.25, 62.5, 62.75? Do you remember the brand or part number? Where did you get it? After 2 weeks how is it holding up, any screeching or squealing?

I picked up a belt from Napa auto parts in southern Ontario. NAPA power series micro-v 25, belt#070628 7rib. I believe that’s 62 1/2 inch inside diameter. The belt was a little tight getting it over alternator pulley. Once I got it on and pushed down on the adjuster it was a perfect fit.

Another confirmation - worked on 2005 Durango, 5.7 L Hemi after compressor pulley seized and burnt the belt and the tensioner pulley. 17.00 for the belt, 25.00 for the pulley - truck is back on the road with no ill effects.

FYI for a R/T Magnum or Charger etc 5.7 Hemi (A/C Compressor near bottom of engine, unlike a 1500 Ram AC near top) you will need a 78" (1980mm) 6 Rib belt. Part # 5060780 or 6PK1980

After reading the comments I decided to go with 62.6 in. 6 rib belt. I installed it per the diagram you made. It was just a little too long on my 2008 Ram 1500 Sport 5.7L Hemi. There wasn't enough tension to turn the belt. After some research, I decided to find a 7 rib belt at 61.02 in. (Dayco item# 5070610). Day 2 and it is working great. A little on the tight side but wanted it tight because of the reduced contact with the water pump pulley. Everything is working great so far. I think I could also have went with 61.25 in 6 rib belt as well (Dayco item#5060613). Either should work but 7 rib belt is a better option I think. Thanks for the info!

Jason and Charles, Thank you. Please still get me the part number if you can. I have found a Dayco 5070615. That is 61.5 in inside and 62 in outside. Would this be impossible to get on? Are y'all talking inside or outside measurement? The next closest thing I can find 7 ribs is 62.6in inside. I would still like the 7 rib but either one of yalls part number will be a big help.

It seems like this belt has been discontinued or only available in certain states cause in Arizona I was not able to get this at AutoZone. Amazon does not have it. Pep boys does not keep any stock for retail anymore. I called O' Reilly and they mentioned they have one with the same dimensions but its a different brand. Alternative Product: Brand: Master Pro URL: www.oreillyauto.com/detail/b/masterpro-belt-hose-4217/belts-hoses-16454/belts-25068/belt---serpentine-type-12828/eebb7a080a6d/masterpro-serpentine-belt/k060630/4435159 Part Number: K060630 Price (at time of writing): $18.99 I have not yet installed this product, but I am about too, I will update the comment when I have tried this.

I have a 5.9L, Gosh I have been all over the internet trying to find the right size belt to bypass the ac compressor. Everyone online says to use the 90.5 inch belt but it’s way too long. I’m not sure how it’s even possible for them to Make that work. I’m wondering if this size belt would be better
