Usually one of those half ball bearings come out of place and locks it up

PAG oil lubricates the compressor, looks gnarly though haha

Penetrating lube, spray and let it sit for a bit +Drill (lock your chuck onto the splines) + vice (put whole unit in after you ALMOST take it apart. just to get the pistons loose from their current home, smack it back together)= You don't have to take them all out and rebuild it. Be certain no metal chunks are gonna bind though. Now, start slowly. . . You should be able to get it rotating and everything moving inside... keep spraying - to clean -... the rest is obvious. Cheers.

Hello. Thanks for the nice video. My car is Fiat Bravo 2008 1.6 diesel and since I have it I have issues with unstable rough idle, more noticeable in the summer. I tried a lot of thing with this car and no improvement, visited a lot of mechanics, diagnostics etc and nobody can't find the issue. Having in mind that the rough idle is more noticeable in the summer I started to think if there is a problem with my air conditioning and more specifically sticking AC clutch or something like this. Last 1-2 weeks my car was working fine (I am not using AC anymore as it is not hot), so a few days ago I turned on the AC and I didn't noticed any issue, but after around 20 minutes I had to drive my car again and after starting it again the rough idle was there again. So is it possible my AC clutch to be sticking for some reason even after the AC is turned off and this to cause the rough idle? Thanks in advance!

hi.. i would like to know while manually rotating the clutch, does the compressor shaft also rotates or the compressor shaft only rotates when clutch is engaged
@partsshooter2 жыл бұрын
If you rotate the center hub [clutch] it'll rotate the internals, there should be resistance. If you rotate the grooved pulley, it'll just rotate freely, like an idler pulley
@anujgupta20082 жыл бұрын
@@partsshooter thanks bro. resistance would be of oil and gas inside compressor chamber? or any other sort of resistance. Also, I am unable to rotate clutch although the pulley movement is free. so what might be the failure reason

Hey man great video! I have a locked up compressor on my 2015 tahoe 5.3l. I know you said the client didn't want to do everything you wanted but just curious what else would you have changed out?
@partsshooter2 жыл бұрын
Nothing else was changed... Just replaced the compressor.

@@partsshooter thanks for the quick reply man! And in the video it sounded like you would have changed out some more parts because of the metal contamination if the owner would have payed for it What would those be ? Just trying to figure out if I can get away with just changing out the compressor.

@@Alexander-qg5pg all cases are different... I've repaired some fk ac systems, meaning the compressor was severely damaged internally. Simply replaced the compressor, no more issues! This works 98% of the time in my cases. And I've done dozens of compressors on various cars. Id imagine the metal particulates get caught in the receiver drier, and nothing further! Worst case it gets further compressed by the compressor, broken down to where it becomes part of the system, like a stop leak😂. Seriously though, I never had comebacks! But 1! And this was a 1970s vehicle. I'll save the story for another day. But after that remanufactured compressor was replaced, no more issues! And I service the entire family vehicles Maybe next time I'll cut open a receiver drier and see if there's chunks of metal.

@@kuyamojetd best to replace the entire compressor, if you're in USA rockauto.com is great with a wide variety of compressors for an array of makes and models. I haven't got a bad compressor from there yet, I just get NEW
