this vid was AWESOME... totally helped me. I had some goofy freaking safety switch issue, where, it was running fine one minute. then i got off the mower (Cub Cadet XT1 Enduro 42 inch) to move something out of the way (it stops because of the seat safety switch). then got back on, and it wouldn't start. checked everything. no joy. seemed like a safety switch issue, but, good luck getting to them all. started disabling them 1 by 1, but it still wouldn't start. the couple that were left were either too confusing or hard to reach. then i found your video. bypassed the whole lot of them, and now it starts. THANK YOU !!! (I'm glad you made the mistake about the original issue and decided to bypass them all... or I wouldn't have learned how to do this.)

Thanks so much for the tech tip to buy pass the safety switches. Unfortunately I threw some parts at it (new ignition switch and solenoid) before watching your video but it still would not turn over. Then I went to your video to by pass the safety switches. Did everything as you explained but still nothing. Had no 12v at the switch so went a drank a cold bottle of water and came back to it. Started inspecting the wire loom and shazam, there is a 20 amp fuse in line. Pulled it out and duh it was blown. Replaced the fuse and hit the switch and viola started right up. So if anyone is having no cranking issues, check the fuse first! Hahaha

At first I was upset because you said I don't know how much easier I can make this, because you were far away in some. If you can't get a tire to seat on the bead , give a squirt of starter fluid or carb cleaner for a few seconds into the tire ignite and tire will blow on to the bead , I work on tractors and offroad equipment for 30+ years its so much easier than ratchet straps , grease, etc. especially on wider tires

I have same rider my dad used on his farm house and blew head gasket. I installed new head. Gasket and did what you’re not supposed to do, using silicone on each side of gasket. I guess that’s been about 5-6 years ago. I have several junk mowers. So, after new clutch cable, battery, and carb cleanout I’ve mowed 3 times with it already this season. I refuse to get rid of a mower I can keep running but I have well over an acre and it grows so fast sometimes I have to mow twice a week or it gets too thick and rolls up and chugs down mower, etc. The only downside of those craftsman is needing a driver side wheel added to front of deck to prevent deck banging into roots and so forth. But they are amazingly good little inexpensive mowers used.

Just got in from fixing my husqvarna, a fine Kawasaki 15 hp v twin. Was safety switch on it mounted under starter solenoid. Being a bunghole, I clipped the switch, black wire to black wire and white wire to white wire, twisted good with Klein lineman pliers, soldered, taped, bam! Cranking again. About a 20-22 year old husky parked 10 years ago from high miles. Had to tear down to bare frame to remove gas tank cracked at bottom leaking all out. The craftsman is not aggravating at all. It is easiest to work on. All they need to last forever is maybe head gasket, and careful deck use or mount wheel on driver front to prevent root damage. The deck has a vulnerable spot there without a roller wheel. This is often the case with lower cost riders, they scrimp on anti-scalping wheels, which are great to save your deck from roots and such. But this craftsman was abused by my dad, and myself for quite awhile now. All my riders are so worn, the hour meters if they have them, all stick or break at around 300 hours.

This Video Saved me, however to add a few things at the Ignition switch Harness there are 2 wires that are black, 1 has a white stripe, that goes to the magneto tang and the grey connector for the magneto. The Solid black I believe goes through the interlocks. I used spade connectors so I can reverse this once I find the short to fix the harness the correct way

hey Henry. I have 2 of those craftsman mowers . I discovered as you just did there are safty switches to prevent cranking and swiches to keep you on the mower. Even if you want to trouble shoot the diagrams are very confusing. One of my mowers has a switch inside the male side of the seat switch so if you unplug it it kills the mag. Have to ut it off. Another mower to be careful of is an old yard machine sold by monkey wards. Friend gave me on with all the switches bypassed including the neutral switch on the shifter. The shifter is between your legs. If you get off with it running it is very easy to kick that shift lever. You will then have a GHOST RIDER . Love your vids.

Lubricate the moving parts on the undercarriage with fluid film undercoating. This will last much longer and rust proof wherever you spray it.

Why not put like a coat hanger wire on the white wires on the switch you want to disable without cutting any wires to make it to bypass the switch and a quick fix if you ever want to use the switch again you can Just by attaching the harness back i just did this myself today worked instantly and I'm a female did this by myself

One of the first thing I did with my new lawn tractor. I couldn't get off the dam thing without the engine quitting unless I first stopped the blade and then I had to put the dam parking brake on. Talk about annoying. I by passed the safety switches. I don't need anyone babysitting me when I operate my equipment. That's for the college kids who don't have any practical sense.

Thanks buddy I have a old tractor that has like 5 safety switches but they are all saying they are working but it won't start nor will the solenoid click but if I jump the solenoid it turns over I checked the ground and fuse and I put new solenoid on and new key switch and still nothing I get 12v to my key switch but it won't go any further than that. I have this thing tore apart in peices looking for a problem but just can't seem to find one so imma try bypassing all the safety switches now..

awesome video, thank you! i would like to share my experience with a Husqvarna RZ4623 zero turn mower. this mower would not start it is a safety switch that is keeping my mower from starting. i checked the switches and tested each one and they are suppose to be working. every wire on these safety switches has a white wire connected to the socket. tracing most of these wires there are about three of these wires joined to the negative ground cable. The solenoid has a white wire as the trigger wire. on the ignition switch i found the S on the switch either it stands for solenoid or starter. i cut the wire from the switch leaving enough room for splicing.. i connected a direct wire from the ignition switch S to the solenoid and disconnected the white wire in the solenoid with my spliced wire from the ignition switch. The engine started and to my surprise i bypassed the safety switches on my husqvarna zero turn.

I thought you could have zipped tied the brake safety switch. So my take away was "No Crank" bypass solenoid. "Stalls when brake released", coil.

I could have but it’s in a difficult access spot. The hardwire bypass ensures all safety switches are bypassed

If a kid is smart enough to do it following these instructions he should be smart enough to not hurt himself, and you’re not smart enough to realize that. Thanks for the comment that helps my algorithm, will you be smart enough to reply to the response and boost my algorithm even more? Will you take the bait? Let’s see….

Good info to know for the DIY person in a troubleshooting capacity. For an insured shop like myself, I could never sell or return this to a customer with any safety bypassed. That's a lawsuit and a half waiting to happen. That being said, I bypassed my RIO switch on my John Deere years ago. I assume that "risk" but I would not for anyone else period. Great video otherwise!

Yes definately not recommended for a shop unless the customer wanted it that way.

I will NEVER bypass a safety switch, in fact if a piece of equipment comes in with faulty safety items, I will not fix it unless the customer allows me to fix the safety feature first. Law suits are the number one source of income in the US, no thanks!

If your going to turn the mower over, you have to think about fluids they will seek level, this could send most the crankcase oil into the back of the piston, and past the rings causing a hydrolocking problem and burning up the rings. Your battery can leak its acid and you can dump out the gas tank. The rings might be ok with an oil film it gets that anyway. The acid from the battery can do damage And the gas can catch fire. Other then that, wouldn't be better to lift it at the frt wheels " not all motors" my twin cylinder kawasaki Motor has the heads at the frt of the mower so if i pick it up in the frt with a come along i can raise it 90dg to the ground and not send oil Up to the valve train. I'm going to bet that craftsman is a 1 cylinder motor and the heads at the frt of the mower. I would drain everything and take the battery out. Just my 2 cents. You know as well as i do you have to take the motor apart to change the rings. And lap the valves.
