A better way is to always look for multiples of ten. Start with forty times ten, which is ten times 25 four times, which we can quickly see is 250 four times equalling a thousand. Then we multiply seven times 25 equaling 175 adding it to a thousand.

I learned also to look for the closest easy number and that is 50x25-3×25= 1250-75 = 1175. ! Out of my head! 😅😂🤣

5 is half of 10. Multiply by 10 then half (divide by 2) for each power of 5. 5, 25, 125, 625, 3125, 15,625, 78,125, 390,625 etc... it's how I just went through those powers. To divide by powers of 5, reverse the process. Double (multiply by two) for each power of 5 and then divide by 10 (move decimal 1 per power) 19/125 19>38>76>152>.152 So 19/125=.152
