Teresa, I love watching your channel. Even when you are offering info/tutorials on topics I think I already know about-I can always learn something new. Today's video is awesome. It's always fun to listen to you when I'm stitching away. Thank you for making your channel so welcoming and fun. Happy stitching to you, from Virginia, USA.

Thank you for doing this Teresa. It is really simple to figure out fabric size. I've been stitching 50 + years. My original DMC card had a stitch count graph on the back. It has gone missing so I now use 123Stitch. Although it does not calculate fractions, I do a spread for every chart in 14, 16 & 18 count Aida. Then I make a list of charts using the same color fabric. So I make paper patterns of the size I need and lay them out on my yardage to fully take advantage of every inch of yardage.

Hi Teresa, I thought I knew all about calculating my cut size. Thank you for the information. I knew some of it but not all. Plus I'm still learning vocabulary, didn't realize 1 over 1 and 2 over 2 was about the fabric not the number of strands to use in our floss. LOL

Exactly, the app does everything automatically, one only needs to feed in the data. I fail to see how it could be any easier... 30 seconds and the result is there!

On the stocking deer creek, are you doing 1 over 1? you never really gave a definitive answer . I started on the higher count and I can't see well enough to do it. I've put it away for over 2 years. I'm doing it for my grandson. And was hoping to get it done before he was in his 50s. lol! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Love watching your show.

This was very helpful. Do you have a video talking about stitching fancy ladies like a mirabilia? and choosing a good fabric size - how many strands to use and how to do the over 2 for everything but the face is over 1? Or do you know of a resource that talks about all these things to know about stitching these type of projects? Thanks!
@TeresaLittleStitcher
@TeresaLittleStitcher 5 ай бұрын
I don't currently have a video specifically about stitching fancy ladies like a Mirabilia, choosing the right fabric size, the number of strands to use, and the technique of stitching over 2 for everything except the face (which is over 1). However, I'll see if I can find some time to record a helpful video covering all these aspects.

Thank you for this. Being dyslexic, I am totally math challenged but you made it understandable and easy. I had given up on being able to do a certain pattern I like because the fabric was impossible for me and I just couldn't seem to work out the conversion. But I used it to work along with you and now I've put it back on my list. I just have to wait for it to come back in stock. Any chance you can help with those fancy stitches that only work on linen and not on aida?

Thank you, I’m brand new and have a dumb question? I want to make small Xmas cards and have a design ( that I bought) but I would like a border. How do i fiddle with the maths?
@TeresaLittleStitcher
@TeresaLittleStitcher 4 ай бұрын
You need to work out how big the opening of the card is to let you know how much space you have to play with. If the pattern is centred on the chart, you may be able to draw in an outline of a border?

Just experience here from using Mill Hill "metallic" beads over they last 2 decades, I am VERY disappointed with them. Allow me to interject 'here' my projects are either completed but NOT in a frame covered with glass, OR in a frame with no glass over the top - intentionally as I really wanted the texture and shine of the beads to grab the attention of the eye, but over the years I have found specifically the metallic beads do lost their finish, it disappears almost as if it was rubbed off. The BEST beads are pearly-type beads and gems. I have an issue with the metallic. I do not understand why, so my next step is to email Mill Hill to ask why...thankfully the metallic beads have not caused any issues with the stitched pieces. Phewwww! There is nothing more beautiful than beaded pieces! But those metallics! Argh!! Frustrating!
