Hi Art, Good video as usual. Question, will this process work with the older PD2700U BENQ monitors ? Is there any difference in the workflow for calibration ?

The external display brand or model does not matter, this is a generic video that will work with any display.

Hi Art, just a quick question, i am just everyday user that would like a consistency across betweem all my monitors, in that regard, would you recommend me to go with the spyder x elite series as it does mentioned the studio match function where you can match the dual monitor setup. Or would you suggest to go with calibrite display pro/plus as they seem more accurate and have a generally better reputation? Thanks again for all the informative videos, very handy and inspiring!

Spyder Sensors are not good. Color match can work but I don't recommend. Calibrite is better but does not necessary have color match function.

Hi Art, Good info. I have a question. Let's say you want to use this method for content crestors that use external monitors link up to their mirrorless cameras. Ex, Sony A7Siii with any brand via HDMI port. Could this be calibrated using your method? Many of them do have a way to display 3d luts. I want to explore this to get the best color out of my monitor. Thanks in advance.😊

you can't with software calibrated display, you can somewhat do this with hardware calibrated display but then the calibration would be based on the computer output and not the camera output, to which then you'll still won't end up with the most accurate color possible. For linking a camera up, I would just get a good quality display, pick a color mode that works for your workflow and create.

Hey Art - Thanks for these videos. Can the Calibrite colorimeters handle a QD OLED? And what settings would be ideal for that panel, just the OLED setting? When I correct with the software I’m currently getting color banding so something seems wrong. Also, some say you need a colorimeter correction profile for the QD OLED panel, is there even a way to do that with Calibrite?
@ArtIsRight
@ArtIsRight Ай бұрын
OLED option would be a start. As far as QD OLED support, that is something that has to come from Calibrite; there's no way to add that spectral data in the software on the user side. I may reach out to Calibrite support for help on this, though mostly they will tell you to use OLED, which is not the most helpful advice. But you'll never know; when you hear back, keep me posted, please. Either as a new comment or DM me, I don't usually see replies :)

Hi Art, I'm a bit confuse about which color preset of the monitor I should be in when doing calibration. Can I just calibrate my monitor in Standard Mode since color managed apps will display the correct working color gamut anyway ? Or am I missing anything here ? Please help me to understand. I'm using Windows and my monitor model is Asus ProArt PA278CGV and it has Native Mode preset (I think this mode is equivalent with Standard Mode and Asus does not provide any information about this mode like what is the color gamut of this preset). Thank you a lot !!!

" Can I just calibrate my monitor in Standard Mode since color managed apps will display the correct working color gamut anyway ?" The question is what gamut is your monitor "standard" mode representing? Based on your model I would probably choose native.

Art, one more question for you - I was the guy just chatting with you on another comment about QD OLED calibration on this software. My question is, even though the colorimeter needs a correction for QD OLED to be accurate, without one will it at least be accurate in the initial measurement when trying to dial in the RGB sliders to set your color temp to the specified target, or will even that be too inaccurate without a QD OLED correction file?
@ArtIsRight
@ArtIsRight Ай бұрын
It would get you within range, and not that I think of it, chances of Calibrite releasing a QD specific OLED spectral data is probably going to be really low because we have and will have so many OLED variations that is difficult and not cost-effective to release the data for everyone. OLED option might be your best bet at this point.

@@ArtIsRight thanks again Art, I really appreciate your insight 🙏 I hope they do release a QD OLED correction because the current OLED option (and all the others I’ve tried for that matter) give me significant color banding and I don’t think they’re accurate :/

@@ArtIsRight Yes as in despite running a multi-monitor setup and configuring windows settings correctly only 1 display is recognized by the software at any given time. The post calibration comparison tool also does not work for me. Over all I am concerned that I cannot trust the accuracy of the calibration due to these and other errors.

Will Calibrite Profilier's clabration profile only work on software that supports the profile, or will every app/window in windows support it? I've read that only color managed apps can be used to display these profiles, if that is so is there a way to make the profile work everywhere not only the apps that support it?

Thanks for the information but I didn't really understand how can I calibrate my display to clamped sRGB if it's a wide gamut display but doesn't have any sRGB profiles. I basically want to get rid of the oversaturated colors in non color managed apps. I know this is easily doable with DisplayCal or Calman but I couldn't find any information about this Calibrite app regarding this.
@ArtIsRight
@ArtIsRight 9 ай бұрын
"...I didn't really understand how can I calibrate my display to clamped sRGB if it's a wide gamut display but doesn't have any sRGB profiles." If your display does not have sRGB color mode or was not calibrate as such or you didn't choose it, then it won't show you that color gamut. You are not calibrating to that gamut, you are just calibrating to whatever gamut your panel is set to and is capable at the time of calibration. Unmanaged app would be taking color cues from the OS via the ICC. Also I don't comment on DisplayCal but CalMan is in a league of its own.
