US Army guidance on painting individual weapons is pretty much right in line with yours. However, the Army specifically calls for Rust-Oleum flat colors. Rust-Oleum can be removed with a good soaking in CLP, and a little scrubbing. Uncle Sam wants his guns back in black when they get turned back in after the deployment.

Another technique that gives a 3D effect is a dark base(brown), 2-4" wide slanted stripes alternating in a lighter color(green), then lay the foliage on the dark areas and spray a 3rd lighter color like khaki/sand/tan. Only seen 2 YT channels do this technique and the end result is amazing. TLDR: Dark base, Lighter slanted stripes, foliage on dark areas sprayed with 3rd lighter shade.
@thefirstthrownmolotov68522 жыл бұрын
Great tips; I've always stood by using brown, sand/khaki and green in ratios matching the local, outdoor environs. One item I'd add is that painting a suppressor is not advised since they heat up and burn off the paint leading to a strong smell. Using a sheath is probably the better option. Also, THE DRIP and your eye shadow is just (chef kiss), always.

Another fantastic video as always!!! I have never really painted my rifles, I tended to keep them as factory standard as always BUT this video may have convinced me. I have an L1a1 SLR that I think would look good in some jungle or prairie colors. Also you look SO gorgeous with that choker!!!

Huh, thanks, this is a pretty different way of thinking about painting for me. I build props as a hobby, including some prop guns, and part of the deal with props is to enhance the outline. So things like inking the recesses, dry brushing highlights on the raised edges, adding visual weathering, etc. The goal with all that is to enhance the silhouette to increase it's physical presence and better sell the appearance of a weapon for something that's made of wood, foam, or resin. But that's of course totally counter-productive when trying to lower the visual profile of an actual weapon. So thanks, this gives me something to think about.

I went with Montana spray paints, since they're hard wearing and their flats are actually flat. It's been about a year with moderate use and the finish is holding nicely. Also, this is not something that takes a great deal of artistic talent. So long as you know which end of the nozzle the paint comes out of and you're willing to do a few practice passes on a piece of cardboard to figure out your spray pattern, anyone can do it and make it work.

The gold line is preferd as black is high pressure for street bombing tags and throws the gold is a soft low pressure with alot of control for doing detailed peaces and burners but thay have awsome camo colors duck season and nato are my favs and its fast drying holds up and wears perfect over time nun of the guns i ever painted were done with shitty american paint i ise the graffiti brand paint as it truly is superior and lrylon and rusto are garbage and over over priced and 5 colors thats it thats all thay make and nun of them work out were i live but montana gold is the bees knees when it comes for camo
