I miss my 5 lil firebellies. I had them when i was 13 and i didnt really know how to care for them, but my mom got them from someone who was going to freeze them if no one took them, so one day i came home to a suprise! I had them for a year before I found someone better to take care of them but Im thinking about getting some more, now that I've had more pet experience. I miss their little peeps!!!

I don't even have firebelly toads anymore but I find myself clicking on any video that pertains to them because I love them so much ☺️. I have seen them in setups that have deeper water with white cloud minnows and that's fine as well as long as they have floating plants with broad leaves and logs to access the land area. Your setup is great for them.

I just today built a tank for my coming fire belly. Its 1/3 land, it has like 10cm tall false bottom where the water area connects to. I made tropical substrate mix from serpadesign on the land area. Now im finishing the enclosure. I would buy more than one but theyre so expensive here in finland, 45€ each! (50-55$) This video was so helpful even tho i knew alot of the basics of them, since i know all kinds of stuff about most reptiles.

@gasperkanoni88385 жыл бұрын
You should all ways use live plants, right lightning period, hibernation, uvb lught because they evolved to sunbathing, natural plants filter the water, day length contrast to the natural seasons and allow them to naturali breed or overwinter... and they love to live in soft sligtly acidic water...
@JessicasAnimalFriends5 жыл бұрын
I don’t believe I said they shouldn’t have light to establish a day and night cycle, any many have kept them with fake plants or without UVB. But if you watch my recent fire bellied toad paludarium video you’ll see they’re in a set up with only live plants now.

@JessicasAnimalFriends6 жыл бұрын
As long as you are providing a large body of water, it's fine. And if you use substrate it should be moist instead of dry but that's just because the soil will stick to them. I prefer to have a more aquatic set up personally.

You never fail to amaze me on how much you love, know and learn about these animals! Do you know of any geckos that are easy to find in expos or online, can live in a 20 gallon long (on its normally or standing up tall) and good for beginners? I’ve been considering a gecko for when I make a bin for my hamster and then I’ll have an empty 20 gallon long... my mom doesn’t want Leopard geckos, african fat tails, crested geckos OR gargoyle geckos. Why? No idea. I wanted an African fat tail but she doesn’t like the bumps. She also doesn’t like crested or gargoyle frogs because they look like snakes somehow to her 😂Also! Do you have any recommendations for a staple insect for my bearded dragon since dubias are illegal in Florida? Okay I’m sorry for the million questions lol goodbye!
@JessicasAnimalFriends6 жыл бұрын
hmm..crested gecko would be your best bet (20 gallon long upright). I know your mom doesn't like them, but it's a good beginner reptile and you don't have to feed them dubia roaches or other insects, which would be good considering you live in Florida. Plus, they're easy to find in expos. As for your bearded dragon, I recommend superworms. Make sure you also offer other kinds of insects though like hornworms. They're full of calcium and they are LOVED by bearded dragons.
