Hi, Thank you for your videos. It’s mentioned not to use a clarifying shampoo regularly. I need to use it it every 2nd day as it seems to be the only way that keeps my hair white. I have a community well that has lots of tannins which stick to my hair leaving it yellow/rusty colour (I did buy a filter and that does help) and if I use any hair products, gel, mouse, hair spray, this leaves yellowing which then I have to use the clarifying shampoo to get it out. My hair is mid length and very thin and fine. Would you have any recommendations for me? Thanking you in advance.

Hi Ellen! Using a clarifying shampoo that often could damage your hair. The harsh chemicals in most clarifying shampoos strip oils that keeps your hair healthy. There is a brand that might work for you- Malibu C has several products that could help remove buildup and yellowing. I have not used these products because I haven't needed to but they are popular among the Silver Sister community. The products from this brand are less harsh than most clarifying shampoos and Chelating (hard water) shampoos because they don't contain sulfates, or harsh chemicals so you can use them more often. If want to remove product build up, you could try Un-Do-Goo Shampoo (according to directions on bottle, you can use weekly)and then use the Hard water wellness hair remedy packet (once a week)to remove mineral build up and discoloration. Or you can use hard water wellness shampoo and conditioner (weekly) to remove hard water build up and discoloration. Check out their website (products are also on Amazon but website has all products on one page)-they have a whole line of products to choose from. As I said, I haven't tried this brand so I can't say how well it works but many Silver Sisters have been satisfied with the results. I hope this helps!

Okay but what if I absolutely have to shampoo everyday, I have diagnosed OCD theme specifically around this

If haven't already, switch to a sulfate free shampoo. Sulfates strip the natural oils from your scalp, are very drying, and can irritate your scalp and damage your hair especially if you use it everyday. Sulfate free shampoos are gentle so it's much better (safer for hair and scalp) to use everyday.

Hmm. My hairdressers always advise to stay away from Pantene because it contains silicone and this isn’t a good thing.
@GrayHairTransitionandBeyond Жыл бұрын
Hi MsWalkAlot! That section of the video isn't about silicone free products. I was just sharing what am using right now. Pantene has a silicone free shampoo and conditioner but the shampoo and conditioner I use (and others I have used in the past) has silicone- I haven’t had any issues. Also, clarifying shampoo will remove buildup.

Hmm, how can you get greasy if you have beautiful silverGrey hair? Don’t get it because oil and buildup don’t accure with Grey strands, it’s what i feel but I’am far away from salt and pepper look i just have some greys here and There. I Also use shower filter and Will have to buy more replacement kit 🥸🧐

As a total silver, I can say you’re totally wrong. If your scalp is oily, your hair can get oily.

@@pattieokane6018 i don’t have oily, don’t pretend To say right or wrong That’s is your mentality but still everyone has the same bottom line we all are human not different kinds of species with curses ! it’s all depends on diet, lifestyle other Factors as enviorment and as well how you taking care of your scalp and hair everyday. everyone is different but for me i feel Grey hair is better but i can’t judge now yet because i’m not There as a uniqe individual! 🥸🧐

Hi Alphax, my hair is more on the dry side (has always been dry even before I started to go gray) but if I wait too long to wash it, it will feel kinda greasy. I believe it could be from product build up and touching my hair. Gray hair/ scalp can also suffer from an oily scalp and build up. I know a few ladies who are fully gray who have oily scalps.
