Thank you so very much for explaining everything step by step the way you do ,I'm divorced now and don't have a husband to change out my bedroom carpet which he had promised to do so 11 years ago , but now I'm going to change it and with all of your tips 😊 I feel very confident I can do this ! And most definitely very excited, also I've just painted my room so it's definitely a good change from the old to the new ! Thanks again, and God bless!!

Great channel. Sure would have tuck better with no 1/4 rnd. Noticed that you had your knife angled as you freehanded you seam edge. You must have hand cut down a backing row to avoid straight edging. Always use a power stretcher to stretch carpet taut. Knee kicker only for setting at walls Have you ever tried running a row on top for your seam edge? Works great. Displaces no yarn when properly executed.

Is it important to have the floor trim installed beforehand? I'm re-doing my house and already pulled it all off. I planned to replace the trim with a different style. If I need to install the trim first, I'll have to postpone my carpet install, obviously, but what are the recommended dimensions for spacing the trim from the floor?
@Anthonymayn

Any answer to this ?
@BoomChild74
@BoomChild74 2 жыл бұрын
@@Anthonymayn in the past, I've had to go along the edge of the carpet right above the tack strip and lightly tap the carpet with a mallet or something to get the carpet to grab onto the tacks. Otherwise, I don't think it matters much if you do the trim after the fact.

The foam padding is essentially flush with the tack strips so the carpet lays OVER the tack strip and the kicker stretch’s the carpet while pressing the carpet down onto the tack strips

why does the black and decker book I have tell u to use tackless strip instead of tack strip?
@xdg6451

Because before the advent of tack strip, carpet was tacked in with a staple gun. Thus the name “tack less” or tack strip. The name is interchangeable but it explained to installers of that era that they no longer need to use a tack gun.
