The guides on Texoma do the trolling motor mostly out of the water to make that sound. Does it really work to attract stripers and hybrids?
@BooneBoys Жыл бұрын
Yes it works. I’ve done a video on the splasher that talks about the splasher and how we use it. I’d say it more it helps keep the fish under you not really attracting them. Now a thumper does attract fish, especially in the winter.

Quick question, in the warmer months, how to do work your fluke jig? Fast jigging medium fast?
@BooneBoys Жыл бұрын
In warmer months we almost strictly use live Shad. It’s to put my boys on sheer numbers. You can just catch so many more fish with live bait and it’s easy for kids. When water warms up though from winter you can catch still catch Deadsticking but you have to roll over 1mph.

@BooneBoys Жыл бұрын
I’ve got a super old one. Maybe 25 years or so old. I’m sure I would like modern features of some tanks, especially insulation, but it’s held up well for us. It’s 50 gallon. If you fish 2 or more people in boat and you have room I’d get that size.
@MikeP1541 Жыл бұрын
Thanks. Was thinking about the 30 gal……but I think I will go for the 50gal.
@BooneBoys Жыл бұрын
@@MikeP1541 if you fish for a full day and catch 200-300 baits that extra room really helps keep them more lively. However it’s more weight, more ice, more bait saver, salt. At one point I thought about a 27 gallon for short quick trips but I’m glad I didn’t.

I would never go out without a splasher. They school up at times under the boat like they’d never do without a splasher. I’ve got a HydroWave on front of boat and I don’t think it works. Or I’ve never seen fish school up under boat and catch fish like I’ve caught with splasher.

Yes we do. They are similar to largemouth bass in taste.
@maryannefeucht4125 Жыл бұрын
You are proving a fishing guide I know wrong. He and I disagree. He says there has to be some wind or the fish won't bite. I told him some of our best fishing days have been when it's been totally calm. He always says, no, you're wrong. What we have learned is that sandies don't like to bite when we're out there and it's gusting up to 30 mph. We just stay home now. The lake where we always fish so far is Lake Ray Roberts. Wish they would stock some hybrids at least.
@BooneBoys Жыл бұрын
I would say typically most good days the wind is blowing a little. It may be that wind blows in Oklahoma more often than not and we just happen to fish on windy days. But we catch a lot of fish early morning when it’s dead calm. Most people live by the wind, but I’m like you 30+ is tough to fish. Only way really is to drag for cats or fishing live bait.

Why do you keep such small Hybrids when they don’t reproduce. We always release them so fishing stays good. If you want meat catch the bazillion sand bass that taste just as good.
@BooneBoys Жыл бұрын
They only have a 6-7 year or so lifespan and state restocks, so I think it’s a good thing to keep the hybrid. It’s like the trout stocking program, keep them or they will die. Now Striper, I feel a lot different because of the long lifespan. We rarely keep them outside of Texoma.
