We just use a chicken leg tied to a piece of string. Those suckers are so dumb they'll follow that chicken leg right up onto the shore where you can pick them up with your hand.

also if you are on a peer you can use a crab net to get the ones on the side of the posts with a soft shell. i love soft crabs you can fry them up and dont forget to take out the devil part and put the whole thing on a sandwich with lettuce tomatoe and mayonaise. i did that as a kid. look over the peer at the ones on the side of the posts under the water and slowly move your crab net down very slowly so you dont scare it away and then when you think you are at the same depth as the crab you can swing the net on him and catch him. those are the soft crabs for some reason the soft crabs are there. their shell falls off as they grow and the under shell is still soft.

@@Spectacular-cuoredicioccolato yea but they get smarter too. if you catch to many then you have the ones that let loose sooner left. the slower you pull them in the more likely they stay on.

also for cooking please look at maryland style steamed crabs and buy some old bay seasoning. i was just going to buy some tonight online i am in the netherlands now so i have to buy online.

I didn't know the Blue Crab had invaded so deeply! Is that the Mediterranean? In Maryland's Chesapeake Bay, home of the Blue Crab, we use a similar technique but dip under the bait with a long handled net. They are aggressive.

im from baltimore marlyland we have alot of blue crabs and you want to have a net to scoop them up put the net in the water it is easier to scoop them up make sure it is a new with larger holes so you can move quickly. and also dont use a fishing pole. tie a line to the wood there and preferebly 10 lines.

Thatch’s not a very good way to catch crabs here in Australia we use another method and we get the by the dozen. You get a galvanised metal wire 4 to 6 mm make a circle .5m weld solder brass or bind the to ends. Then make a cross at 90 degrees with things galvaniser wire. Get some fishing net and put it around the circle ( like making a Shiping bag) secure throne bite at the Center of the circle were the two thinner wires are crossing each other. The use twine to make four pieces from the point the two thin wires attached to the circular wire and joined them to gather from this point joint another long piece of rope. Then through that in the sea and wait in 10 15 minutes pull this device towards you.I bet you going to have at least 5 to 6 crabs in the net. Make sure to have the appropriate size of net holes I hope I made my self clear. NTG ( Nick The Greek)
