Good video as usual 😊 As a freshwater angler my toe's have been curling up at the thought of those curly hooklengths 😳 I have some questions 😇 1) Do you steam the hook links to straighten them out or leave them looking like corkscrews ? 2) Having 2 swivels between the hooklength and the reel would make the 2 rigs 'death rigs' if the line broke ? I can see that both are very basic bolt rigs but wouldnt using a carp fishing chod safety bead or similar (large bore rubber bead using a length of a toothpick as a stop) in place of the first swivel be ..... a) better for the fish if the line breaks as the lead would detach from the mainline and hooklength b) better as the length between stops can be shortened or lengthened c) much cheaper if the rig is lost 3) The 2nd rig for using on a wreck is a crude and basic 'Naked Chod rig' as used by carp anglers. Do you think that by it making less 'chunky' would make it more efficient or wouldnt it matter ? ie. Using a swivel clip to attach the lead, replacing the top swivel with a chod safety bead or similar, using a small piece of rigid tubing on the mainline for the hooklength swivel to slide on instead of the mainline, blobbing off the cut ends of the 100lb and 200lb line with a lighter and lastly, steaming the hooklength straight for better bait presentation.

Good evening, sorry for the late reply. Here goes to answering your very good and important questions. 1. The hook link doesn’t get steamed and once there a bait on it the line primarily runs through the bait so doesn’t matter. The tide also helps pull it out straight aswell 2. Sea angling hasn’t particularly designed things that kick off leads. The issue is with tide and current and nuisance fish you’d loose a lot of weights. Some venues suffer from weed and may release the weight when not wanting to. In the sea hooks rust out very quickly. Around 2 days and a hook should start eroding. Fresh water this wouldn’t happen and fish are expensive to buy so lake owners are of course more concerned with fish safety. Shark fishing any kink isn’t good as the sharks find it unnatural. So you want a nice straight hook link. In the future maybe more methods will be available. Thanks for the comment and interesting prospective.

Great video mate well informative. I will say one thing stop using your teeth to Pull the line as sooner or later it will pull your teeth or at least weaken them.
