Hey hey! I go crabbing a lot here in Oregon. We catch dungeoness crabs here. Also we have a few red rock crabs. I have some pots that are 44” across. They are round. We’ve pulled up between 120-130 crabs in one pot!! Of course they were not all keepers but still…

Those are huge pots and that's much deeper than where I crab in Maryland. They limit the size of pots for recreational crabbers. The deepest I would run this type of pot is 20ft. It's usually pretty cold by then. That's when I stop crabbing and switch to fishing. Do you use a pot puller crabbing that deep?

@@TomyTekOutdoors no crab pot puller. Those pots I only drop in around 20-25’. The water stays very close to the same temperature year round here. I don’t know that we have any regs on pot size.

@@TheReefRobber gotcha. I was up late and completely misread your initial reply. The most I've caught in traps at one time is maybe 10, but it would be really small crabs and maybe one keeper. I could catch even more with this trap. My typical traps are much small than this one. I can't imagine sorting through 120 crabs at once. I just watched your last video and those traps are huge. You got a nice dinner on that trip.

You're welcome. If you are going to use the crab trap in Maryland, you should be able to make your own crab trap as long as you follow the Maryland regulations. Just make sure you check the regulation to make sure they have not changed, since this video was made.

wow, that's a big trap. wondering how many baits would fit in ? how much was this at Anglers ? I'm anxious to see how many crabs you'll catch with this. I might add a few to my arsenal. Excellent video. 👍

Thank you. This is the biggest trap I've seen for a recreational crabber. I forgot what it cost. I always wait for Anglers to have a sale and buy new stuff. They should have a couple of sales coming up. I was able to fit 2 clam bags in it and stuff them full of bait. I'll try to add more this season. I'm going to try to get some underwater shots of it as well.
