Nice clear, to the point video. This one would be an excellent one for the beginner.

Great breakdown. I always see a lot of out of town people fishing the gulf shores, fort Morgan, and orange beach areas casting just as far as they can... and then get annoyed when I’m catching fish throwing up close. Eventually they come and ask me what I’m doing different.

This is a very good video, even 3yrs old it is very relevant. I grew up on the beach surf fishing many years ago (Uh like 60 LOL). Anyway, when family came down for the summer they wanted to fish. My 1st lesson was read the beach, don't just cast. If you just cast and catch a fish, you will never understand why. I use to draw a little pic like your illustration to help them get it. You hit it right on the head!! Great job!! 😉

hey phil,your stuff is really good info. found a really good spot today and caught 6 pomps,, 3 bluefish, 2 slot reds , and 2 18" black drums. Amazing. I am sure this happens for you just about every time out. of course, you clean all your catch ,do have any suggestions on what to do with the carcasses?
@SaltSquatch3 жыл бұрын
Depends on where you are cleaning the fish. If cleaning at your house (or a rental) you can bag the carcasses and throw them in the trash.

You can also freeze them until you have enough to make a fish stock to use in soups. Fish also make great fertilizer for the garden; this was a common Native practice.

I learned this by fishing with a big surf rod and a 6 and a half foot freshwater rod. Most times I catch more fish closer in front of the sandbar with my freshwater rod. I cast the surf rod past the bar and catch fewer fish.

In 1980 my parents gave me a basic fishing techniques book which contained exactly these points. Fish your feet, then throw a livey out behind, which is much easier these days with the one way sliders. nb* how do i remember the date so well.....i was 7 & also got my first surfcaster.....learning to cast along the beach with bolts found on construction sites saved me so much money on sinkers!!! lol, them good ole days aye
