Glad I seen this video... been trying to find a descent flasher for gurnard as I've used up all my oldschool mustad flashers which I dont think they make that style anymore..

Nice fish😀 I once caught a 4.7 lb gurnard off French bay in the Manukau .... filleted off half and threw the other half with the head in the smoker with some snapper.... The Gurnard was awesome smoked....Smoked or fried I actually prefer Gurnard to snapper😁

What size hooks are ideal for catching gurnard and can this be caught surf casting or only boats?

Hi rm If the gurnard are of smaller size a 5/0 will work fine - I fish the 7/0 OA flasher on both costs and work a treat. They work very well for surfcasting - use the 7/0 it's a bit bigger hook and easier for the baits to go on. Tight lines

Yep adding bait - if you know where the gurnard are you can just run a dropper with a softbait - something with good movement like crazy legs or big curly tail.
