Absolutely brilliant George, RTE should do a series with you, I'm serious. A few questions, is that amnesia, what breaking strain and would you put a sinkingt as in mud on the leader. Cheers from a fan

Thanks Martin, I don't think RTE will be calling any day soon lol. It is indeed Amnesia 20 lb, and as you say a little mud can help with the leader.

What is your opinion on using a drop fly around 14” from your point fly ?
@springerspanielful3 жыл бұрын
There are occasions when a second fly can be advantageous,in slightly deeper or faster water for example.Also it's a good way to determine what fly will work best on a given day,I often put on a dark and lighter fly and then decide which to use by seeing which one the fish prefer,thanks for the great question.

Hi george. Thanks a million for taking the time to make these videos. They are very imformative and enjoyable. Ive a question regarding the 3 feet of hi vis line. Is there much advantage in using the 3 feet of high vis line instead of connecting the 12 foot leader directly to the fly line and using the fly line as the visual indicator? I found in the past using the fly line as an indicator works well as it is easy to see and floats well.
@springerspanielful2 жыл бұрын
The flyline is indeed a good indicator,however the hi viz line is more supple and gives a better chance of detecting the more subtle takes that may not register with the flyline.

23:05 in your video you are talking of striking. But I have seen you cast and you hold your rod tip high in the air, that is why you are striking, however if after you cast and keep your rod tip low you don't need to strike, just lift your rod tip.

Just subbed, my great Grandad was from Tipperery and hope to go fishing over there. I fish the Yorkshire dales waters but catches aren't what they were. I think Otters and Mink are having some effect. There are some light conditions where it seems to make no difference what material you use,it's almost impossible to see anything.There is no one material that will work in all conditions unfortunately.Sometimes just the tip of the flyline well greased is the best bet,give that a try and let us know how it goes,good luck my friend.
