How to catch partridges with goshawks

Roy Lupton takes his birds into the field to find other birds. He is using goshawks. @Cuvac most hawks are allowed to grow used to other pets they could encounter in the home they are kept such as dogs and cats, mingling it in with a ferret is more difficult but very useful especially for rabbiting.

is your harris on a bow perch ? cause if so the bird can some times feel scared if you are towering over them before picking them up just a thought for you.

Anyone got any tips on how to stop a Harris hawk baiting, he flys fine and is fine when I get him on the glove but keeps baiting when I first go in his flight? please don't say handle him more as I handle him at least 2 hours a day!

Screaming goshawk, what advantage do you get apart from breeding. Parent reared any day.

Paul Crawford True... 90% of the training is done in the rearing with an imprint.... far easier than parent reared... one of Luptons friends who’s meant to be a great falconer (😂) dropped a right clanger with a p/r Finnish male a few seasons back.... they all do imprints .... they are the greatest....

Ah Wesley from Bristol ? He had a Finnish male drop of his fist, then knocked the weight off a golden eagle he borrowed from T.B in Kent. Knocked The weight low and the experts including Roy Lupton missed the rookie mistake signs of sunken eyes. The eagle collapsed on the journey back from Scotland. And gave the vet bill to T.B... Nobody did fluid therapy...

yes yarak is a persian word meaning strength, speed, power etc or do you mean yarak as in the falconry centre? well being a "master" falconer you should know that the goshawk in this video isnt starving. you'd think you'd never flown a bird of prey in your life.

Andrew, You obviously looked Yarak up in wikipedia. Any master falconer knows this word as it applies to a bird ready to hunt. Keep trying. This Gos is badly malnourished, not in yarak. I have trapped and flown, gos, Redtailed, Harrises, kestrels, merlins, sharpies, coopers.

Try not hunting off the fist with the red tail. Much better chance with rabbits

well actually no i already knew it was a persian word. and wikipedia is a pretty unreliable source of information. you say you've flown all theses birds yet you said it is a cruel "sport" as if you dont even class it as a sport and think its cruel? to be honest i dont even think you're a master falconer at all.
