Okay, for MOON and ULTRA MOON players, if you’re tired of using rain dance, I’ll help you out. 1. Change your DS’s time until you are in the 5-6 PM area. (If you’re a SUN and ULTRA SUN player, this is the only step to do to make Malie Garden/Lush Jungle rain.) 2. Make sure you have your box legendary (Solgaleo for (Ultra) Sun, and Lunala for (Ultra) Moon), and put them in your party. 3. Go to the Altar of the Sunne/Moone (depending on which game again). 4: Go through the alternative time. And there you go. If you have problems, look at your DS’s time and make sure it’s in between 17:00 to 18:00 (because Nintendo uses military time). Oh also, here are the rain cycles: Lush Jungle/Malie Garden: 5-6 PM (17-18 o’clock) Exeggutor Island: Most of the time Po Town/Route 17: Always (One more thing I suggest evolving Sliggoo in Exeggutor Island because it has higher leveled Pokémon than Route 17) Like to get this to the top and hope it helps!

PSA: Be sure to check the rates on the wiki, different areas have different rates depending on the weather. Example - On route 17 the spawn chance for castform during rain is 1%, but 11% during hail or sandstorm. At Tapu village the spawn rate for castform during rain is 1% during hail and 11% during rain or sandstorm, ect. Don't let your time be wasted! GL all!

Hayley Williams I mean in terms of hunting for rare encounters like politoed. I just think that all Pokemon should be able to be the the first Pokemon in that encounter. Other than that, SOS methods aren't really that bad for IV and shiny hunting.

thats the point, to make some pokemon interesting and rare, if youre shiny hunting or iv hunting, just find the thing and breed it. you can probably catch a Turtonator/Drampa and put it on the GTS for a politoed, people give anything for these guys to finish the dex

Took me 5+ SOS tries (12+ hours which is always super fun when the developers decide to have it be under strict conditions, 1% encounter rate, and have it know PERISH SONG which according to the comments and experience, it will almost always use as its first move) so I've some advice to save someone's sanity that also does not use GTS: - Moon users will not be able to take advantage of the natural rain because it's so poorly thought-out and is still considered day when it rains in Malie, so bring several Pokemon with Rain Dance/Drizzle and Leppa berries - If you run into a Poliwrath, it's the wrong time and Politoed will not ever show during that battle - Bring Pokes who can learn Taunt and use it as soon as it shows to avoid Perish Song - Use leftovers to avoid constant healing and use Pokes that could make good use of the speed EVs - Ghost and water Pokemon (Jellicent can learn Taunt/Rain Dance and may have Water Absorb ability, Decidueye can learn False Swipe + can OHKO with grass moves, Parasect w Dry Skin heals from water and can learn False Swipe + Spore to put it to sleep) will make it MUCH less annoying if battling Poliwhirl - Electric types are also an option as they can't be paralyzed and are strong to water - Do not use Pokes with Synchronize as if it's paralyzed, it will transfer to target, thus ending the call chain - The time of day the battle starts is what determines if it'll appear so you can leave your DS if taking a break - Timer balls are your best bet 99% of the time for SOS calls but dive or nest balls will be better if it shows early on. Ultras work too (esp early on) but for something this annoying and with limited PP, stock up on proper balls

I did it! Took me 3 nights, and not being sure if Poliwhirl could call them, but finally! I wasted one turn to false swipe him. Then another one to take out his Poliwhirl partner. And then I realised I didn't want to risk it, so I spent a Master Ball on Politoed. No legendary was worth wasting this opportunity.

Man, I hate SOS battles because not only did it take forever for me to find a Corsola but I spent another eternity to get Mareanie but at least I got a lot of pearls from that.

I don't mind the SOS Battle mechanic, but I hate how some Pokemon can only appear through this. Took forever to find Castform despite spamming Drizzle Pelipper in the desert map. Must of killed about 50 sandiles. Mareanie also took awhile. I must have killed about 50 Corsola searching for that bastard. I haven't even started the Politoed and Gengar hunts yet, but I can already tell they're going to be a pain in the ass.

Honestly the best thing that I have found is to breed mareanie and use GTS, I have basically gotten every mon I needed.
