@amittheotimus11382 жыл бұрын
No, no, no. That's not the right way to cook the blue crab. To cook it in a right way, you just put some salt and steam the crab. That's it.
@janinedraper4422 жыл бұрын
This the first time I saw them grilled like that. In Maryland they have to be 5 1/4 inches from tip to tip. We steam our crabs in beer and we use Old Bay seasoning. We serve them with corn on the cob. My parents have my 10 low profile traps. We throw them out from the pier. I love crabbing for blue claw crabs. I also wouldn't mind getting stone crab claws down in Florida. There's no stone crabs in Maryland. We use to have a crawfish trap for eating crawfish and using for bait pretty rarely. I love to crab and fish.

Do you bait the pin fish trap to keep the others you’re keeping alive fed? We set traps at my parents, but usually let them go because we never have enough to cook at once.
@aleethasullivan2 жыл бұрын
Boil them alive in salt water. Clean them. Pick the crabmeat. Put crabmeat in 1/2 cup serving in measuring cups or put meat in an ice cube tray just a tad below full. Cover the meat in measuring cups or ice cube tray with milk and freeze. The milk keeps the frozen crabmeat from getting mushy or stringy. The frozen crabmeat will stay fresh for 3-6 months. It's preferable to defrost and eat by the 3 month mark. Quality begins to diminish between the 3-6 monthmark but it isn't terrible.
@user-oy3xl7zb7f3 жыл бұрын
you should just freeze some of your carcasses from other catches for crab bait. Use those mullet for the reds.

Not knocking ya, because like you said everyone does it differently, but you should really try just seasoning and steaming them alive. The hot steam kills all of the bacteria and the seasoning really soaks into them. I have never seen someone kill them before they cooked them before.

I am on the Bon Secour River. 1) What part of the Gulf are you on? I have a few more questions...2) Do you bait the holding pen to feed the the ones you're saving? 3) Is it required for all traps to have a buoy if you're close to shore, pier poles of a pier or just out of the channel? I have looked on the Alabama DCNR page but it wasn't clear. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING WITH YOUR VIDEOS!
@BamaSaltwater2 жыл бұрын
I live in Orange Beach. I always throw some scraps in the holding pen so they have something to munch on. And I tie our traps directly to our land. I'm not using a buoy. But I know that you have to have a properly marked buoy if out in "open" water. (I'm not a game warden, nor do I make the rules, this is just what I do lol). Thank you for watching and Good luck
