Excellent video! That valley is gorgeous! Making me miss Easter Tennessee! I know exactly where that spot is but the year I lived out there we had a lot of rain and the river was always muddy, so I never fished it at it’s full potential. Awesome to see just how productive it can be! You’re right that “Nolichucky” means river of death in Cherokee.

Yeah, it’s such an awesome place. But it’s definitely tricky with the weather. I got very lucky over the weekend.

I've been meaning to check this river out for awhile. I have friends in the tri cities and usually visit twice a year. Usually end up on the lakes or trout fishing. Do you see many people running kayaks down it?
@MichaelKaal-TriFisher Жыл бұрын
It’s a great place to catch a lot of fish. I don’t see many kayakers.

Been fishing that 7 mile stretch for 33 years bro! I buy NC and TN sportsman just for this area lol and BTW that spot is called the gulf hole! I have problems with rafters from USA raft on the regular up in there, not a year goes by I don't have problems with them brother, they have always thought they own the river through there. One of these days someone is gonna get their raft or kayak shot up for messing with fisherman like that. Glad you got to spend some time in there though and had fun, that's all that matters.
@MichaelKaal-TriFisher2 жыл бұрын
Man, that’s crazy that you’ve also had problems with them. Definitely an epic area

@@MichaelKaal-TriFisher yes sir it is! Don't know if that was part of USA raft group but definitely have run ins about every year lol they have pulled up on me up in there and have grabbed my line and smacked paddles and threw rocks in the water many many times. There are some trophy smallmouth up about 2-3 more miles, my biggest smallmouth I've ever caught was right up past mile marker 145, didn't weight it but it was 23 1/4 inches. Huge rainbow trout up in there too

I work for the rail road through there. It’s beautiful through there be careful with bears through there and trains. It’s technically trespassing to walk on the tracks also the nc border isn’t that far up the river
@MichaelKaal-TriFisher2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, we saw bear scat everywhere. We were also about a quarter of a mile from the border.

ohh yeah, I would make a visit to that rafting company. I find it ironic that he would slap his paddle like that on the water considering the noise those rafters make + those trains coming through there like they do every day. Those fish are subjected to all kinds of noise and vibration daily..
