Great video Alan, Would like to try this in Westernport. What weight jig head would you recommend
@fishingmad11 ай бұрын
Thanks !! Yeah it can be a lot more challenging at Western Port because of the strong tides/current. I tend to only fish with soft plastics there around slack tide when the water is moving its slowest, and usually fish 1/2, 1/4 or 1/6 or if very shallow 1/8 It really does depend om how deep, part of the tide.

Is there a place i can buy soft plastics for cheaper than retail price? I tend to go through packets so quickly thesedays. Maybe like a place i can buy some in bulk for half price or so? Or does that fantasy not exist? Thanks for the video Alan!
@fishingmad11 ай бұрын
I wish I knew the answer to that aswell because I would load up on them as well. I buy so many different brands and types of soft plastic every week gets crazy and adds up very quickly.

What type of rod was bill using? Haven’t seen one like that before I think he said it was his bream tournament rod

I think it was one of the original Luvias rod and reel combos.

I’m so sorry to ask but could you go fishing with me landbase at Werribee south for some snapper sometime please,I love your content keep it up mate💪
@fishingmad11 ай бұрын
I've been doing quite a bit of land based fishing lately getting some footage recorded, Werribee South land based can be pretty slow sometimes, and heaps of pest species like banjos and eagle rays. I wish we had some more land base options locally for snapper espcially good for plastics
@achy23511 ай бұрын
@@fishingmad where do you reckon I should go next for land based snapper around Melbourne

If it not mentioned what is the rod set up suited to target snapper on plastics please, im currently looking to get a new outfit purposely for pinky/ snapper. Would be a great help. Thanks al
@fishingmad11 ай бұрын
I usually use a 2-5 kilo rod paired with a 2500 size reel and 15lb braid. You can fish a bit heavier going 3-6kg and 3000 size reel. So much good gear to choose from and very varying budgets. There are some gear guides on our website which has some good suggestions.
@zachdunn655011 ай бұрын
@fishingmad hey Alan really thanks for your reply Im hesitating on which model to but I feel much confident now, and I've taken on board the assist hooks set-up an really keen to get on the water, thanks a bunch! Nice work on the snapper it's very inspiring.
@fishingmad11 ай бұрын
Your very welcome. Model all depends on budget because there are cheap combos starting for about $100 all the way to $1,500+. Many buy mid market stuff like a TD Black combo or Zodias/Vanford combo.

Hey Alan I'm unsure if you share this but do you have any boat or kayak spots off werrbie south that your happy to share with me if so much would be appreciate
@fishingmad11 ай бұрын
Historically around Werribee I spend lots of time staring at the sounder covering ground trying to locate them. A lot of it is flat sandy bottom. I typically spend a lot more time in areas with known reefs like Black Rock, Altona and Willi reef. When i cant find them and im fishing with plastics ill pick some spots using relief shading and get on the drift.
