if there was one man on earth I would trust to catch a fish it's this man, his voice even brings my wife into the mix and she gets interested in my fishing videos (very impressive ability ), one of my bucket list fishing goals is definitely to meet this legend n catch a fish with him

@flatsclass Hey cap, when you or anyone else is reviving the tarpon have y'all ever had a shark try to take the fish or your hand???
@philtarbox82562 жыл бұрын
That's about the size of the first tarpon I landed... used the same techniques to get him to shore ( I was fishing the Duck Key bridge right across from Hawk's Cay)... I got so lucky because he wrapped me around a bridge piling twice... used the short pumps and side pressure and finally got him free and landed him after about a 30-40 minute fight... Lol

Pulling the rod sideways can be very risky and lead to lose the tarpon, if the angler applies too much pressure on, making the fish's changing diretion turning his head towards him. If the rod is not lifted up right after the Tarpon changes direction, the hook will probably ripp out. What i intend to say is, that this technique requires a little bit of experience and feeling from the angler, knowing when to take pressure on and off and change the position of the rod.
