I have a question with this technique, a lot of the coaches tell us to pull the hands towards ourselves while catching a ball. But in this video I have seen there is no pulling of the ball towards oneself, now my question is which is the right way to catch a ball?

You can do both but it is much easier to catch when pulling backwards because of the decrease in momentum that is created
