I encountered 2 tarantulas, and 1 scorpion. The first tarantula, was an accident, I accidently stepped on it because i wasn't currently looking for one. The other tarantula and scorpion either walked off a cliff or into the water. I don't know if i was lucky because they spawned, or unlucky because i didn't catch a single one.

Here's my tarantula/scorpion story. I was playing acnl when suddenly I got knocked out. I thought to myself, "Wait wait... WAS THAT A TARANTULA?!" I tried looking for another, but no luck. The next day I was READY. I started scrounging around at about 9pm and I found one- but it disappeared. I was petrified because yet again, no more tarantulas that day. The day after, I did my daily things like getting fortune cookies, talking to my villagers, I finished the café project, you get the idea. I stopped playing a little while and realized it was the perfect time to try to catch one of those scoundrels. I started the game and started looking and I found another! I followed it and did everything perfectly... that is until I messed up the swing. Long story short, it knocked me out. I found another tarantula to the far right of the newly-made café, and I approached it veeerrryyy sssllloooowwwllyy. I moved closer, it standing still. I swung....... and caught it! It is now in my house, I named him Terrifying Tim. I haven't encountered a scorpion yet. (I haven't even played long enough to get around to that part of the year :P) Wish me luck when that rolls around. 🍀🦂🕷

I’ve literally watched this video too many times and as soon as I looked it up I hear the freaking scorpion hiss. I had caught my first tarantula earlier and caught a second one as I started to get the hang of it! I was so happy as august Is nearly ending and I got it just in time. Anyways I tried for like 2 hours to find a scorpion with no luck. Just got back from the island and all of a sudden hear the hiss. I saw one before the tarantula and it disappeared. This lucky scorpion was in the trees and I couldn’t see it. I waited and eventually swung my net. I really thought it disappeared again and then I heard that lovely net noise and then the notification popped up telling me I had caught it! I’m so happy to have both after 3 days of trying! Only 7 bugs left till my golden net! Sorry to write this but I’m just do happy! Thank you for the guide!❤️❤️

Spent like half an hour hyperfocused on catching a tarantula after it got to 11 pm and every time I passed by one of my fountains or especially my fire pit my heart stopped for a split second because it sounded a lot like the tarantula’s sounds. Idk why but it’s so nerve wracking. I lost the first one I saw because I couldn’t see it’s placement but the second I caught! Thanks for this video! I remember when I first got animal crossing, I ran into a tarantula and it knocked me out, and I was utterly confused, but never saw another one since then until now.

I've only ever caught the one Scorpion, but I also recently discovered they also act like their New Horizons counterpart. If they start hissing, pause , if they settle down, they're safe to approach again.

i got really lucky and came across a scorpion without purposely looking for one WITH my net out. i was sorta near the river but as it inched closer to me while hissing, i got it! it felt great, although i had a little scare when i thought my wolfgang would want it

Also if the scorpion/tarantula starts to chase you, make sure you either have the net in your quickest accessible pocket or in your hand. Start tuning north so you can get a better shot of the Scorpion/ Tarantula and so you can also pull out your net quicker if you don't already have it out. Then like catching wasps, quickly press A when they're close to you , and BAM! You just caught a scorpion/tarantula!

She was meandering around my town square! I just walked up to her slowly, caught her and donated her! I've never even seen one in game before, let alone caught one. I literally just went into a random villager's house for no reason, came out and a scorpion was just chilling right next to that house. I'm surprised that thing didn't sting, and even more surprised I caught it from the angle I was at. Also gotta love not even seeing it for a solid 10 seconds because I was watching this video XD. That is your best friends list! If you go to a friend's town and go to the player list, you're able to add them to your best friends list. This will tell you when they're online, and you're able to talk to each other through it although you're in other towns!

As of right now, I have encountered both of these once. The scorpion, I was walking around until I saw it, and froze. We were both in front of a house, me on the right, it on the left. We just stared at each other, until it crawled towards the door and despawned. As for the tarantula, yesterday night, I was walking around with the net out, heard a strange sound, and went to the front of a tree to scare off a cicada. Then out of the blue, my character was knocked out. My camera couldn't see the tarantula because trees were in the way. Now I know what the tarantula sounds like, because, the sample footage used to show the sound it made was not very good, the river's sounds drowned out the tarantula.

Literally the best way to catch these is when you see one get your net out and just run at them. I’ve never caught either of these by taking my time and slowly coming up to it. I just run at one and catch it.

Well. A week ago, I caught the scorpion while trying to hunt for the tarantula. I was pretty happy with my achievement, and while I did encounter the tarantula shortly after, I didn't get ready to swing my net in time and it only bit me. And during the next four days of trying to find that eight-legged fuzzboi, I couldn't find it all. That is until today at about 7:30pm, I found it by accident. I let it scuttle past me until I took out my net in time and got ready instantly. This time, it turned towards me instead of going insane! And before I knew it, I had the tarantula in my hands! Pretty funny story, I know. But then again, we all have funny or interesting stories about finding rare things in our favorite video games!

They shouldn't effect each other, however I also have an easier time finding the tarantula normally. However, if your town is currently in June, you won't see the scorpion at all because they only begin spawning in July :)

I've owned Animal Crossing New Leaf since September of 2016 and been an avid fan of the series since the first Animal Crossing game came out on GameCube, but I didn't realize you could hold down the A button with the net equipped to approach bugs slowly until watching this video. I always just had to ever so slightly move my character with the control stick when approaching trees. >_
