When boat drifting the most effective depth for this technique within 10 to 25m max. The most critical factor to set the jighead to the seabed. Otherwise try to monitor thru the sonar whether u can attract mid level swim fish. Good job Nigel !!

What was the water depth? Was the boat on anchor or drifting? It's hard to sink the lure when the boat is drifting too fast and when the water is too deep...

@hafizkamisann85557 жыл бұрын
I've watched this video hundreds of times with my fishing kaki. Went southern islands last weekend and tried this setup and amazingly managed to reach the bottom in shallow/soft current waters. But sadly no sagais. Would you be able to recommend boatman contacts for micro jigging and or sagai fishing in the southern islands?
@RapalaSoutheastAsia7 жыл бұрын
Hello Hafiz, thank you for following us on Fish On! TV and we're glad you gave the Gomoku Soft a try. The best months for Sagai are from November to about February. You may wish to check out captains like Alex Lim, Henry Ho (Ah Ho) or Ah Heng (Sure Heng) who charter out of RSYC. They are the best for Sagai ajing and micro jigging. All the very best! :)

I got a question,how can we use such light weight lures when the current is stronger,it'll take forever to reach the bottom
@RapalaSoutheastAsia8 жыл бұрын
Hello! The current has to be just right to be able to fish the soft plastics effectively. Too fast a current and it will be difficult to get it to the right depth where the fish are holding. Some tips that might be able to help for midwater holding fish: 1. Use thinner diameter line to reduce line drag in the current. 2. Use a heavier jighead. 3. Anchor further upcurrent. Sometimes you may not need to let the jighead reach the bottom too if the fish are holding in mid-water. You just need to get the lure down to where the fish are holding and hold the rod steady with bail arm closed. Bites will come as little nibbles so you got to be quick to set the hook. Hope these little tips help.

Good day. what is the rod you use here? And where we can buy the rod? also the soft baits.
@RapalaSoutheastAsia5 жыл бұрын
Hi, Nigel is using the Rapala RFS which out of stock already. But there is a improve version which names Rapala Vespida that allows you to do this kind of fishing as well. The soft bait is the Storm Gomoku Soft Bulky Ring.

What a crazy video. How many depth did you play that SP? Seem to be pretty shallow. So far gomoku bulky rig is my favorite to cath tarpon, baby trevally, terapon jarbua, or even baby barracuda.....and match to decoy jighead 2,5gr. But totally played at estuary. Love to play small fish using finesse tackle.

Hi, we have tried the Gomoku Soft Bulky Rings on Barramundi and Mangrove Jacks but never specifically on pond-stocked Trevally so we can't really say what techniques will work best. You may wish to give it a try and experiment a bit to see what retrieve or technique will get them to bite in the ponds. Do let us know! :)

Hi, Fish On TV, nice video, May I know what is the cost of the set up and where to get it ?
@RapalaSoutheastAsia7 жыл бұрын
Hi Tarry, an ultralight rod like the new Rapala Vespida costs around SGD160 while a reel with a smooth drag like the Luvias (which features Daiwa's ATD) will cost around SGD290 or so. Plus line, lure and jigheads you're looking at about SGD500+ for a very nice setup like what Nigel used. That said, you can always use a lower spec setup that matches your budget. It can still catch you the Sagai on micro soft plastics :)

@RapalaSoutheastAsia8 жыл бұрын
Joel Chan Jun Wen You can work it in deeper waters too. However it depends on the current speed as well. Too fast a current speed and the jighead+lure might not reach the depth where the fish are holding. Any jighead from 1.8g to 5g will be ideal for use.

what happen in the background ? u guys chumming ?
@RapalaSoutheastAsia8 жыл бұрын
Hi Ariff, no chumming involved. Towards the end of the day the Sagai were boiling small fishes on the surface. But they refused to take jigs or lures. That is why the Gomoku Soft is so effective because the size and profile match the baitfish.
