Learned the FG knot 2 years ago. Always had tie this knot at home and never on the water. I'm from the US and every video I've seen just didn't make it simple. You nailed it! This has changed my method completely! Just wanted to say hell of a good video!

Thanks mate. Really appreciate it. Hope all is well on the fishing front in the U.S. Some magnificent giant Grouper over your way!

Having tried many times to tie the FG and pretty much given up on it being a long winded faff of a knot, I think i could now be a convert. I've tied it 3 times this way now and already I'm down to a sensible time frame. So many thanks for sharing.

I've been using the FG knot for about a year. It truly is a winner. I like the way you tie it. I like the triangle method you use I believe it's quicker I'm going to give it a go. spot on with the FG.

I have broken hooks to snags with that exact same FG Knot showed by Andy here. The result of his technique is the slimmest, strongest knot there is, I highly recommend anyone to learn it.

I've looked around for an easy FG knot and you have nailed it. I need some practice, but doesn't look like much needed. Thank you.
@CoastfishTV6 жыл бұрын
Practice at home Warrick. You'll know when you've nailed it. Really pull the lines tight to make sure that braid bites into the mono or fluorocarbon line.

Thanks for sharing. This knot has revolutionised my fishing with braid to mono. I gladly share this video's with my friends who want to learn how to tie FG knots.
@civilized57346 жыл бұрын
one thing to make this knot much stronger is once you do the first half hitch pull the lines really tight and lock it in and then finish off with the rest of the hitches, etc...without this the knot isnt as secure

Very nice mate , beside the easy way you demonstrated this knot , your video is also showing the importance of presentation skills :) , I have lost couple of giant Tuna's last week in central Queensland , bought a bigger gear and going for another fight this week end , was researching hard for a trusted and easy knot as my main line is mixed between braid and mono , had a concern with the knot size and friction with the Rod's guides , your way doing FG looks awesome , it ticks all boxes and will give it a go

Thanks for the video.....thinking about giving this knot a try.......I've watched about a dozen youtube videos on how to tie this knot and as usual, a lot of the videos contradict each other..... some say 20 wraps some say 23 wraps some say 2 half hitches some say 9.....some say you must have tension some say it can be done without any tension on the main line......the last thing I want to do is lose a nice fish because I tied the know incorrectly......and of course all the videos say that their method is the best way to do it......I guess I'll just have to tie it a dozen different ways and do my own testing.......thanks again for your video...

I been using the FG for some time now,this looks like the easiest way to tie it. It works on the same principle as finger cuffs or cable becky's for jigging out fiber and coax,the harder you pull the tighter it gets.
@redsoxwinagain20074 жыл бұрын
Only addition I would suggest is to use some heat to mushroom the end of the mono leader. Wet the line and pinch as you do it to not affect the braid. The mushroom is to remove any sharp edge that may exist and prevent from cutting the braid.

After you lock the knot off cut the leader tag then lock off again just on the braid which will then cover where you cut the leader tag, it will be a lot smoother back through the guides

your knot work was very nice to watch. I've never tied the fg I've always used the modified Albright for this application. have to say the fg looks way more complicated to tie so I guess my question would be, is the juice worth the squeeze with the fg ? How does its strength compare to the mod. Albright? thanks
@CoastfishTV7 жыл бұрын
In my view it is worth the squeeze Paul. I say that from personal experience and I have fished alongside some of the best fishos around that rely on this knot to land those really ball busting fish. I can tie this knot in less than 2 minutes so with practice you'll knock down the tie time. Cheers
@BRG13DEAN6 жыл бұрын
Awesome video, I feel much more confident trying this knot now. I have a question though. I am wanting to spool one of my rod and reels for small shark fishing, not targeting anything over 10 foot definitely. Thinking of 65 lb braid or maybe even 80 lb braid for the majority of the reel with a mono top shot. What would be a good mono to tie to it and is this knot, if tied properly, good to use for this setup?
@alexrodley35344 жыл бұрын
the fg is good for bronzies and if you are using 80lb braid you would probably want 100lb mono or flurocarbon but if you are running 65lb you would want 70 or 80lb mono
