How to change a 4 Prong stove wire to a 3 Prong wire|Install a new stove wire|DIY stove wire install

Hey Y'all, we got a heck of a deal on our new used stove today, but it has a 4 prong cord on it, and I need a 3 prong!

I am an amateur, and I may have missed it, but, as I understand it, a four wire has four individual wires, each connected to its own pole or screw. Three in line and one below the middle position. To go to a three wire I understood you have to add a “ground to neutral“ Bridge between the center neutral and the lower/green screw. Someone said anything conductive so I was just gonna use a piece of wire. Is this true?

what if you just buy the 3 prong cord instead of cutting/swapping it? does it affect the stove power output, or plug runs hot, if you change from 4 to 3 prong (50amp vs 40amp)?

You should’ve mentioned why you used the white wire instead of green. That’s the whole reason I watched it. Yulia on circuit breaker box the white wires are not connected to ground. I noticed the white wire on my stove was connected to ground. I used an 8 guage three wire piece i had. A red black and a green so I didn’t have to worry about the white. I just want to see where to put it. It actually goes to the ground so I wish you give him more information
