Thankyou Kristopher, my brake lights failed just before Christmas, just as garages were closing for the holidays. I managed to buy the part and fixed it myself with your help. I was able to drive home to see my elderly parents for the first Christmas with them for two years 😀

Ohhhhhh thank you SO much for this. Older lone female here. 2005 Tucson. Woke up this morning to my brake lights stuck on, and had been all night apparently. Had looked around the internet and assumed it was my switch - didn't know about the plastic piece until coming here!!! Right now I have a butter knife wedged in there until I can get off work and get some cable ties. Not sure how the heck you contorted yourself to get that in there, so this should be fun. Thanks kristopher, I had an issue like this with my honda civic 2001 a while back, where the issue was with the switch. So I suspected it was this, however I pulled the STOP fuse from the relay box to temporarily turn off the lights until tomorrow. Thanks for making this video!

I have a 2006 Tuscon as well and I had the same issue as you with the brake lights sticking on. But I later found out that Hyundai actually issued a recall on the brake switch in the Tuscon vehicles from 2005 to I believe 2009 as well as some other Hyundai’s and Kia vehicles because of that brake light issue.
