Thank you so much for this video guys. I tried changing my tire and tube for the first time last week. Went in like a cowboy. Took me 10 minutes and I pierced the tube in two places! After watching this video, followed your advice, took my time and completed in 20 min. Tire is perfect. You guys ROCK

It really ain't that difficult. If it is hard to change tyres one does it the wrong way OR have old tyres. An other thing to note is that powder does more or less nothing to prevent pinchflats. Use mousse grease insted. If you think avout it like this you will understand why. With two fingers, pinch the tube. Does it "slide" away from your fingers? Most often NO. Now with mousse grease, do the same thing. Does the tube "slide" away? YES. If it is easy for you to pinch the tube it is as easy for a rock. If it is hard for you to pinch the tube it is hard for a rock aswell.

awesome video Kyle so cool to get JC in there. I literally hated changing tires so much for so many years that is literally the reason I tried TUBliss. Now that ive ridden on tubliss I will never go back to tubes but holy crap tire changes are infinitely easier with tubliss than a tube'd tire.

PRO TIP: Those last two bites; instead of removing the tire spoon, take the bite then slide the spoon over for the last bite. That way instead of “not scratching the wheel too badly.”, you won’t scratch the wheel at all :)

You don't need a stand but you do need some sort of lube, dish soap, Windex or some sort of bead/tire grease. This along with keeping the opposite side of the tire in the rim well is the key to fast tire changes.

Thoughts on greasing the tube? I've seen several top/pro riders on KZbin (Adam Reimann comes to mind) who grease up the tube which in theory makes the tube slippery inside the tire and avoids pinch flats. I like the idea but certainly messy.

The tire shouldn't spin and put pressure on that valve stem if the wheel lock is in place correct? I've always had my valve stem nut tight and never had a problem and I'd run 8-10 psi.

I thought you ran Tubliss? 5 psi tubliss with an AT81RC in your area would be like a trials tire with dessert tire toughness. In the first half of its life, the RC version can be run flat without any huge disadvantage if you puncture.

Warning, if you use this removal method on a tight bead/rim interface, your rim will be stuck between both beads and you'll hav to painfully reverse. This only works with loose tires.

Got my ass kicked trying to fix a flat tire. Rubber was waaay to stiff to get it off the rim. Had to take it to the stealership and asked them to do an oil change while they had it... $180 and a week later, never going to the stealership again for a flat tire or oil change.

That's the light spot on the tire. It should be lined up with the heavy spot on the wheel for the best balance. The heavy spot on a wheel with a rim lock is at the rim lock. If the wheel doesn't have a rim lock, you should line it up with the valve stem.

To all novices, DO NOT attempt to change your own tires. Definitely take it to a shop. You will end up butchering your new tire bead trying to get the last 1/3 of the new tire on, especially on the rear, plus you'll have a small battle getting the tire over the rim lock correctly. These guys in the videos make it look easy just to push product. You'll notice them always pushing either a bead buddy or tire irons and everything else. In the end, you'll be left with rims you badly scuffed up and a trip the local tire shop anyway. Learn to dismount your rims from your dirtbike and drive them over to the shop.

@@maikelnait4495 I agree in that learning new things is what I live for. Having said that, there's a learning curve for a lot of these newly learned tasks and there's a HUGE market out there pushing every stupid tool under the sun to get you to open your wallet. This specific task has a very expensive learning curve and should not be attempted unless you have money to blow on trial and error.
@maikelnait4495
@maikelnait4495 2 жыл бұрын
@@KefirTView Yeah, I know. I can build that stand, tire irons don’t cost that much, that paste I can replace with dish soap. The rest is just being present/aware and common sense. Of course i have pinched some tubes when i was younger but fixing them was also interesting. I mean one can give up right away or... I speak for myself of course.

I have replaced a tube twice in a couple months on a Ktm 250 sxf (rear) same damage to the bottom of the valve stem where it meets the tube. The wheel has a rim lock . Also The valve stem came with 2 nuts on it and I left one on the inside of the rim. Any ideas why it keeps bursting the tube below the valve stem? Last puncture caused me to crash of a jump landing so I’m keen to get rid of this issue..
