Dear lord!!! it took me forever to find this. I have a 98 and all the other videos are for later versions that have a fan nut. I was going crazy, thank you.

Hey my friend... THANK YOU! Getting ready to do the water pump in my '99 Chili Pepper Red TJ here today. I'm sending you a beer!!! 🍺 👍🏽🇺🇸

Thanks so much for this. Doing my water pump tomorrow! Garage said I blew a head gasket even though I told them it was leaking at the water pump seal. I changed the head gasket and it still leaks from the water pump when when it's not running. This is why you don't pay professionals 200 dollars per hour to misdiagnose your vehicles and fix things that aren't broken.

You are the 1st one I have seen actually get your hands dirty. My Jeep has a pretty good leak since a transmission. I wondered water pump and thermostat to. Already put new radiator cap.

Good video however, your advice to replace all those temperature sensitive pressure hose clamps with the adjustable hex clamps is ill advised. Those pressure clamps expand and contract as the temperature of the hose increases and decreases preventing leaks. This something the hex clamp will not do and is destined to leak. You should be using the temperature where ever you can.

A very experienced mechanic told me to never mess with the cheap plastic petcock valve that tends to break easily.. your better off leaving it alone and draining from the hoses by removing the lower hose. Sure, a small amount of old coolant may be left behind but your probably going to get it out as part of the flush anyway.

This was the first video I saw that is my jeep exactly. Great job! Well explained.

This was very helpful, but I'm going to order the replacement water pump studs.. not feeling confident w/ these make-do nuts and bolts. Not only did the replacement water pump not come with replacement studs, it didn't come with a gasket either... arrrhhh!

Great video! I have the exact same car but I think Kauai has fused my fan to the pulley housing. I took the 4 bolts off using your excellent technique but the fan resists all force/heat/penetrating oil attempts to “walk it out.”

I had a similar issue. Spraying pb blast and hitting a prybar really hard with a hammer did it. Now I have to remove these headless studs and I can't

Now that I’m done with the project I can say that you can use the two nut process for getting the studs out. Just thread two nuts onto one stud and use the lower one as a handle to back out the stud. Have

Why did you have to take out the radiator fan...just to show us? I don't want to have to as I'm getting ready to change out my water pump and thermostat/housing, if I don't have to.

Can I double nut the stub and turn it off the old pump?
