Guess BMW designed it so it was a dealership job. Filter cost about 12 quid, labour 70 quid. The whole car is a bloody nightmare to work on. Nevertheless good video.

Is this the same process on the 535d E60? As the airfilter listed for that car is a flat panel one???

It took me 1 hour and 15 minutes først time to change my filter (525D. 2006model). After my third time I´m doing this in about 50 minutes with normal tools in my backyard. BMW mechanic estemated 30-45 minutes, but I guess you pay for one hour :-p

Hi I own a bmw 520D 2006 model for 3 and half years the car is not very in 1 and second gear I serviced the car regularly but very safe bet that they didn't chenge my air filter in all acasions simply because is too much work for a air filter????

The fuck takes me an hour of wrenching just to get to the damn filter. In older cars you would have 2 clips and filter is out you don't even need a screwdriver.

Old comment but, in teslas you have to tear out part of the dash to change the cabin filters. Not everything is easier on electric... they're still the future though.

Air filter is meant to be a serviceable item? I can only think that BMW put all that plastic in the way to increase the labour charge from 10min to an hour - for company car drivers who don't pick up the bill anyway.

20 minutes if you really know what you're doing. I would say 2 hours for someone who is attempting this the first time. Take it to a mechanic and save yourself the headache.

I just can’t believe how lazy this guy is rather to start from micro filters (cabin filters ) first he took long way around plus never unscrewed some components completely. At the end he achieved what he planned but that was longest air filter replacement I saw done by professional mechanic. 👨‍🔧

It's a 5mm allen, not 6mm from factory.
