HOW TO CHANGE ALUULA LEADING EDGE BLADDERS

This video takes you step by step through the special technique used to change the leading edge bladder on an Ocean Rodeo Aluula kiteboarding kite. Aluula kites do not posses a zipper on the leading edge to be used for changing the bladder. Instead, the bladder on an Aluula kite is installed through the main inflation valve which requires a slightly modified bladder installation technique. This bladder changing technique can be performed by only one person and can be used to change the leading edge bladder on any kite whether it's a standard kite, or an Aluula kite.

Hey Reece, I just replaced the LE bladder on our 14.5m Flite... One thing which is cool to mention, is that because Aluula is translucent, you can half-inflate, and shine a strong flashlight through the LE, and see if there are any weird folds and twists...before you fully inflate

I have 3 Roams and they all perform just perfect. OK.... I had a persistent issue with the 8m out at the LE tip where the velcro closure is located because I've discovered that the bladder MUST be tucked into this spot absolutely perfectly. What happened with the factory build is I repeatedly would get explosive blowouts at 9psi. 5 holes later and a ton of lost sessions and frustration I've got this where the bladder contacts firm against the LE fabric. I've also been forced to be conservative about psi.... No more than 8psi

Hi Reese. Great video. Is this the same process for an A series wing? Have a leak at the inflation valve i believe. Should be a lot easier with not strut valves to deal with.

@@reeces_shredlab Thanks for the Reply Reece. So I can only detect the leak when the bladder is in the leading edge with soapy water. Can't pump it hard enough when it is out. Are the inflation valves for the A series wings removable? I tried with hot water but made no headway and gave it up worried I'd make things worse. maybe they are welded on and not glued? any tips on removal and replacing of the valve?

Hey Mike, Sorry this didnt pop up on my notifications. Sounds like the leak/puncture is quite small if you can't find it when the bladder is out of the wing? You can actually pump the bladder to a couple psi without any issues, you should be able to track down the hole with soapy water at that point. The Valve won't come off with hot water, it's fully bonded into the bladder. Not sure why you need to remove the inflate valve?

@@reeces_shredlab My mistake. Thought leak was coming from inflate valve because soapy water was bubbling around that area with bladder in leading edge. I finally did find a couple pin holes close to valve. I repaired those and put bladder back in. Holds air awesome now but I did find a couple more spots where it bubbles a bit from leading edge. Must be super tiny though cause its holding pressure well even over night. Not sure its worth pulling bladder again for that. If i do pull it again i'll pump up the pressure a little more to find the leaks better. This last time I used my face right up close to bladder to find the leaks. Worked but a tedious way to do it.

Hey! This technique will work on your 2018 Prodigy and any other kite. The only difference is you will be using the zipper on the leading edge to change the bladder rather than the inflation valve hole.
