i have a question. my key wont open the door. the light is still flashing when I push the buttons on the key. I rarely press on the buttons since I use the sensors. does it mean I need a new battery for the key or is the key some how damaged? thanks

Thanks for this; I had a Battery Low warning and some people post online that if your key fob battery is dead, you may not be able to start your car; I called Toyota and they said if you can access the vehicle, you should be able to start the car; at any rate, I changed the battery ASAP.

Thanks to all for the tips to open the remote. Worked a treat to re-power the remote. Found anther clip on reprogramming the smart fob and back in business. Much appreciated…😊

There's a trick he doesn't show. Once you take the key out, underneath where the top plastic cover to the key sits is a little long thin cut in the plastic. The key tip (the long flat metal part at the bottom) and then you can just twist it. I can't "pry" it open to save my life but putting the key in that little line just pops it right open.

I was all happy when you said CR2032, because I have 6 extra from another device. Although, my bubble was quickly bursts as soon as I opened up my 2013 to find a little CR1632!!! Ahhh, no worries. Walmart had it in stock and thanks to your video, I didn't break anything lol Thank you!

Many thanks, worked as simply as you showed. I got the 2015 Camry Hybrid model. Thank you Toyota for allowing us to change it ourself. Some manufacturers force you to pay hundreds of dollars to replace a battery, this cost me $2 Aussie. Cheers!

Thank you and good job. I watched the toyota video here and the guy had his hands covering the fob while removing the battery, no help. Yours shows how to remove the battery with a pocket knife, I as able to use a small pair of scissors.

I used the removeable key to pop open the outside case as well as the battery. It's pretty handy as a tool.

I just replaced the battery in my Highlander, which is the same procedure. However, the easiest way to open the key fob after removing the key, reinsert the key about 1/4 inch and pry down. It will pop open with ease. When inserting the new battery, place the battery in the two top hooks or retainers, then press forward and the battery pops right in with ease. It appears that the pocket for the battery has spring pressure and it is difficult to get the battery to snap in without pressing forward first, then pressing down so it snaps in. Finally, you made me nervous doing this on your deck. If you dropped the top half of the key fob, the buttons would fly out when it hits the deck and you would be searching for those tiny buttons under your deck. I dropped the top half of my key fob and the buttons bounced out on the floor.

Note. By design you can't put the battery in the wrong way. When you stock up on these CR2032 batteries buy several. It not unknown for one in a package of five to be bad. Side Note: Battery lasted a little over four years. 2017 Camry Hybrid. Bought it new and not one problem with anything.
